W e b b A r c h I t e c t s . p c 710 West Lionshead Circle, Suite A Vail, Colorado 81657 E-mail: michael@khwebb.com RE: Perimeter Drain Consultation Parcel D, a Resubdivision of Parcels C and D, Streamside Duplexes, 4284 Columbine Drive, Vail Eagle County, Colorado Project No. 14-2955 Dear Michael, Following is a summary of our review of the documents you sent and the soil’s report for the site, our project number 05152, dated September 13, 2005 for the proposed duplexes at 4284 Columbine Drive, Parcel D, a Resubdivision of Parcels C and D, Streamside Duplexes, Vail, Eagle County, Colorado. The purpose of our review was to determine, based on the available information, if additional lateral pressures would be imposed on the foundation. As shown on your drawings, the footing in question is the southernmost footing, that is closest to the confluence of Bighorn Creek with Gore Creek. Between the footing and the creek there is also a sewer line. The sewer line is about 8 feet away and four feet below the bottom of footing elevation, and the creek is about 30 feet away. Also, on these maps, they show the limit of the 100-year flood. The horizontal distance from the 100-year flood to the bottom of footing is about 25 feet and at that particular area the 100-year flood line is at contour 8434, while the bottom of footing is slightly above that elevation. In the three test borings, described in the above-named soil’s report, ground water was not encountered. Based on the above review, the footing in question is not subject to additional hydrostatic lateral pressure. Ground water conditions and flood elevation can change in the future.
