RE: Wall Insulation at Interior Step Light condition at Foundation Wall 2722 Cortina Lane Vail, CO 81657 Building Permit #814-0302 To whom it may concern, We have reviewed the exterior wall insulation condition at the two proposed interior electrical boxes for the interior stair step lights for the above mentioned project. Per an email from Greg Johnson, Vail Custom Builder's Superintendent for the project, dated 6-18-15, the concrete foundation wall was notched at the two stairway step lights to provide approximately 1 'W' inches of expanded 2# spray foam insulation behind the electrical boxes for the step lights going down to the lower level. The two notches that are approximately 1 %"deep x 4"wide x 3"tall, are located at the top of the stairs and at the stair landing. Once the electrical boxes are installed and remaining void behind the electrical boxes will be completely filled with expanding 2# spray foam insulation providing approximately R 10 (R6.6 x 1.5") behind the boxes in addition to the R 10 continuous insulation on the exterior for the foundation wall, which provides a total assembly of R20 which exceeds the 12 IECC insulation requirement. The insulation assembly, as proposed to be installed, will meet the requirements of the constructions documents and 2012 IECC insulation code requirement.
