Tear off Specifications(typical):
1. Protect,windows, decks,gutters,patio furniture, siding, and flat roof on west half of house. Damage to be the responsibility
of the roofing contractor.
2. Tear off existing cedar shake roofs and dispose of the material. NOTE*Roof to be dried in at the end of each work day.
Leaks are not acceptable; during construction damage caused by roof leaks is the responsibility of Turner Morris.
3. Turner Morris is to provide mobile trash containers that will be emptied as needed.
4. Job site to be cleaned of trash and debris at the end of each workday. Driveways to be cleared with magnet.
5. Inspect existing plywood decking and replace damaged and saturated plywood at a cost of$3.75 sqft.
Underlayment:
In the two areas that had exposed underlayment,Bituthene was noted. Changing the roof design is not typically a good idea
if no moisture problems have been noted. Roof will have 100%Bituthene/Ice and Water coverage.
In our climatic region good underlayment is a key to a watertight roof system. Our proposed Bituthene is a Carlisle High
Temperature Bituthene.
Flashings:
• Flashings to be custom fabricated. Painted steel to be 24 gauge pre-painted. Copper to be 16oz custom fabricated.
• Valleys to be per the manufacturer and open 8"min exposed on each side of the valley.
• Sidewalls to be step shingles and surface mounted counter flashing.NOTE*proper water shed design would be to
remove the stucco 18", adhere new underlayment up wall 18"Install step shingles, install new stucco. This repair is
very expensive and a stucco contractor will be needed. This detail is not included in base price.
• At the flat roof a custom metal counter flashing to be installed.
• NOTE*with the new system the starter edge will need special accommodations as the Certainteed Independence
shingle is known to fail at the eave. Bottom course should be ran flush and the tab be cut off to allow for the extra
rotection.
SCOPE OF WORK: Davinci Bella Forte Re-Roof.
1. Tear off existing cedar shake roofs and dispose of the material. * Dumpster to be provided by Turner Morris.
2. Inspect existing plywood decking and replace damaged and saturated plywood at a cost of$3.75 sq.ft.
3. Install WIP 300 Ice and Water Shield underlayment onto rakes eaves and valleys. Install 301b felt and cap sheet.
*Required for UL Class A Fire Rating. Double Bituthene will be installed in the valleys.
4. Custom fabricate and install 24 gauge painted D-Style drip edge on all rake and eave edges.
5. Add step flashings along all sidewalls and headwall flashings on headwalls. Side walls to have custom counter flashing.
6. Remove and replace existing rubber pipe boots around PVC vent pipes.
7. Install the Davinci shake according to the manufacturer's specifications,pattern to be straight coursed. Specification to
meet an U.L. class A. Fire rating. (All Davinci materials and freight will be provided by Turner Morris Inc.)NOTE*
Product to be the Davinci Bella Forte.
8. Nails to be 11 gauge galvanized corrosion resistant. Upon fastening fastener to be long enough to penetrate through all
layers of roofing materials and achieve secure anchorage into roof deck approximately 3/4"thorough the back side of
plywood.
9. The starter course to be applied directly over the WIP 300 Ice and Water Shield along the down slope portion of the
roof The lower edge of the starter to be even with the drip edge.
10. Start first course with a full shingle fastening pattern 3 nails per shingle.
11. Stair step shingle application according to the NRCA's specifications.
12. Courses to be straight with no exposed nail heads.
13. Note* Synthetic shake will slide and cause damage to anything below. An Independent Engineer should be contracted to
design a snow retention system. Price not included in price below.
