Attention; Design Review Board
Reference: Solaris Roof Repair project
The scope of the work for the proposed repair is to remove 2,200 sf of existing defective
zinc material. Replace removed zinc with matching VM Zinc Plus Quartz zinc roof
panels in identical panel profile. Please see detail WJE report and roof plan for
additional information.
Zinc material cannot be formed or bent in temperatures below 42 degrees F. Because
of this, we are requesting that if at all possible, the DRB review and permit application
be expedited. We greatly appreciate any help with this effort.
Sincerely
Douglass Colony Group

WJE No.2016.4022
Subject: Solaris Roof Repairs
With respect to repair of the roof areas on the Solaris roof where inspection openings were made, limited
areas of zinc pan replacement are to be performed consistent with the roofing assembly originally installed.
The purpose of this memorandum,is to provide a brief overview of the work to be performed and to obtain
from Douglas Colony, the selected timeframe for the repair work so that WJE can proceed with the related
coordination.
1. Repair Summary
1 a. Removal of the Zinc and underlayment at the affected slope and dormer slope where inspection
openings were made, as illustrated in Figure 1. Zinc removal is stopped above a dormer where a
double lock seam would need to be opened and recrimped with a new panel overlying an existing
panel. The recrimped seam would be located above the peak of the dormer as this would be the
shortest length for this work and would minimize the snow exposure of the reclosed seam.
lb. Install an additional layer of Grace Ultra underlayment to repair holes from clip fasteners.
lc. Install current underlayment(VMZ Compatible Weather Barrier).
1 d. Install new Zinc.
2. Schedule
WJE is coordinating a condition assessment across the full extent of the Solaris roof. To minimize
disruption to Solaris and allow WJE to assess the full extent of the backside corrosion in the known
affected area, WJE would like to schedule the assessment to be performed concurrently with the
reroofing effort. Please indicate which weeks Douglass Colony could perform the work.
2a. September 12 to 16,2016
2b. September 19 to 23,2016
2c. September 26 to 30,2016
