Shelley,
Attached is an application for DRB approval of an emergency generator in front of the Vail transportation center. We are
replacing a generator that was installed in 1992 when the Vail TRC was last expanded, as the existing generator is not
reliable and is the only backup power to the parking structure in an electrical power outage, hence all of the emergency
lighting is powered by this generator in an outage.
The generator is in the CDOT right of way, hence we had to pull a permit to replace the generator.The project was bid
out and we just received council approval to contract with Colorado Electric Power and Systems to perform the work.
The new generator is slightly larger than the existing generator, but we will be able to maintain most of the landscaping
around the generator that currently shields it from the roadside view.The paint on the generator will match the existing
green/blue paint of the exhaust vents and intakes for the ventilation at the parking structure.
The last two pictures that are attached to the application are representative photos of what the new generator will look
like, and it shows the one generator going in and replacing a similar generator to ours.
