Subject: Structural Steel Completion Letter,Reimers Residence, 3090 Booth Creek Drive,
Lot 8, Block 3, Vail Village 11th Filing, Vail, Colorado
Gentlemen:
As requested by Jon Stevenson with Shaeffer-Hyde Construction, we are providing a summary
of structural steel inspections performed for the above referenced project. The reports of the
services requested and performed for the project are attached. Hepworth-Pawlak Geotechnical
(now H-P/Kumar) previously conducted a subsoil study for design of foundations at the site and
presented the findings in a report dated June 30, 2015,Job No. 115 240A.
The structural steel inspections were performed by West Slope Testing & Inspection, LLC on
April 5, and May 10 & 15, 2017 and state "To the best of my (Doug Young) knowledge this
completes the special inspections of the structural steel onsite welding & high strength A325
bolting, as outlined in reports#1  for the project."
Based on the attached reports, the referenced construction has achieved the specified conditions.

Inspection of shop fabrication or field work at job site: Field
Report: Visually inspected field welding & high strength A325 bolting at steel
beam & column connections, field welded stiffener plates, and tube steel stairway
connections. Above inspections were performed as best as possible with wood
framing, sheathing, foam roof insulation, and mechanical ducting installed to date.
The field welding & high strength A325 bolting inspected above appeared to be
in general conformance with the construction documents, and the quality
requirements of the AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code & the AISC/RCSC
Specification for A325/A490 bolting except as noted below.
1) 1/4" steel plate washers were installed over holes that were apparently slotted
and/or oversized with a torch for bolt alignment at connection plates/angles for
• channel steel & W beam connections bridge/stairway area upper floor framing grid
line 5 & at approximately 7.4. Verify with structural engineer if plate washers
needed welded or if they are acceptable as is.

Report: Visually inspected field welding at steel washer plates at connections
noted in the previous report#1 & at column bases for front entryway canopy. Also
inspected high strength A325 bolting at steel beam& column connections for
front entryway canopy.
The field welding& high strength A325 bolting inspected above appeared to be
in substantial conformance with the construction documents, and the quality
requirements of the AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code& the AISC/RCSC
Specification for high strength bolting.
To the best of my knowledge this completes the special inspections of the
structural steel onsite welding& high strength A325 bolting, as outlined in reports
' #1 & #2 for the project.
