They are subject to review and adjustment annually. Fees are based on either RESIDENTIAL or ALL OTHER FEES. Do not use both categories to determine your fees. Please note the Town of Vail still requests you list the valua- tion of work on RESIDENTIAL permits as we report on this data. The State of Colorado allows local jurisdictions to charge up to 15% above their mandated fees as listed below. Inspections: Permit fees include TWO inspections only. For ALL additional inspections, including re-inspection for cor- rections issued by the electrical inspector, a $57.50 fee is required. This fee must be paid before any additional inspec- tions will be performed. Construction Use Tax: See formula listed on page 1 in the Building Permit Fees section. Construction use tax will be applied to any electrical permit with a valuation exceeding $10,000 where there is NO building work. Will Call: $5.00 applied to every electrical permit. When calling for your inspection, simply state that you would like “Will Call” and leave the best contact name and number. The inspector will call you on his or her way to your site. Section A. RESIDENTIAL: This fee (based on the enclosed living area only) includes construction of, or remodeling or addition to a single family home, a unit in a duplex, a condominium, or a town house. If you are only providing or changing a service and not wiring any portion on the above, see section ‘B’ on page 5 for correct permit fee. Box 2809:I,Ec1wards, Color:ado 81632 mark@vailcustom.com Project No. 16-7-586.A Subject:Observation of Excavation, Proposed Lipnick Residence, Lot 45, Glen LyonI, Dear Mark: Subdivision, 1255 Westhaven Circle, Vail, Colorado;' As requested, a representative of H-P/Kumar observed the excavation at the subject site on about eleven visits betweenMay 10 and June 19, 2017 to evaluate the soil conditions exposed for foundation support. The findings of our observations and recommendations are presented in this report. The services were performed in accordance withour agreementfor professional engineering services to Vail Custom Builders, dated May 1, 2017. , We previously:conducted a subsoil study for design of foundations at the site and presented our findings in a report dated December 15, 2016, Project No. 16-7-586. The proposed construction is similar to that discussed in the previous report. The buildinghas been designed to be supported on spread footings sized using an allowable soil bearing pressure of 2,000 psf, as recommended. On May 10, we visited the site to observe two backhoe pits excavated in an existing fill area in the northeastern portion of the proposed residence. At this time, the existing residence on the site had been removed. The pits encountered considerable existingfill with natural coarse granular soils encountered at about elevation8044 to 8046 feet, and no free water. At this time, we recommended the existing fill be removed to bear the footings on the natural coarse granular soils. On May 25, the excavation had initially began in the northern and eastern portion of the proposed resid~nce with the existing fill being encountered that was being removed to below design footing 1bearing elevation. By May 31 and June 5, the excavation continued and was nearing compl~tion with ~onsiderable sub-excavation of old fill needed to achieve suitable granular beating soils at subgrade. On about June 12, stiff gravelly clay soils were observed at below the sub-excavated fill in the southeast portion of the excavation that was sampled and not tested due to the 2 to 3 feet depth of the material subsequently being removed to more suitable bearing soils. The existing fill depth at the site where encountered was up to about 8 feet below design footing bearing elevation in areas. Vail Custom Builders June 26, 2017 , Page2 At the time of bur June 19 site visit, the foundation excavation was essentially complete, including the e~terior footing pad areas, and had been cut in multiple levels from about 3 to 13 feet below the adjacent ground surface. The soils exposed in the bottom of the excavation consisted of relatively dense, silty occasionally clayeysandy gravel to sand and gravel with cobbles and s4ttered boulders. All existing fill and unsuitable natural soils had been removed in the proposed f6oting areas. The results of a gradation analysis performed on a sample of natural coarse granular soils (minus 3-inch fraction) obtained from the site are presented on Figure 1. No free water was encountered in the excavationand the soils were generally moist. In the west- central portion of the excavation, there was about an 8 feet in diameter boulder exposed that extended up a few feet above excavation subgrade but was below planned lower floor level in this area. !: The soil conditions exposed in the excavationare generally consistent with those previously encountered on the site and suitable for support of spread footings designed for the recommended 'allowable bearing pressure of 2,000 psf. Loose and disturbed soils should be removed in the footing areas to expose the undisturbed natural coarse granular soils, and the subgrade compacted. We understand the foundation will be designed to structurally span the exposed boulder which will be done by the structural engineer. Other recommendations presented in o~r previous report which are applicable should also be observed. The recommer'idations submitted in this letter are based on our observation of the soils exposed within the fou~dation excavation and the previous subsurface exploration at the site. Variations in the subsurf~ce conditions belowthe excavation could increase the risk of foundation movement. We should be advised of any variations encountered in the excavation conditions for possible changes to recommendations contained in this letter. Our services do not include determining the presence, prevention or possibilityof mold or other biologicalcontaminants (MOBC) dev~loping in the future. If the client is concerned about MOBC, then a professional in this special fi~~d of practice should be consulted. IIf you have any questions or need further assistance, please call our office.
