Box 1832 Vail, CO 81658 Report #: 1 Sheet: 1 of 1 Pro'ect: Pro osed Residence, 2830 Bassin dale Blvd., Vail Intermountain Subdivision, Vail, Colorado Weather Conditions and Temperature: Sunny, 80°F± Construction ActivitieslObservations: Field engineer arrived on si±e as requested to conduct ar. excavation observation for the southern half of the excavation. The depth of the excavation varied from approximately 12.0 feet along the southern most footing line to 9.0 feet along the footing line north of the southern most footing line. The materials exposed in the southeast side of the excavation consisted of either compacted fill or hard, shale bedrock. The material exposed in the southwest area of the excavation consisted of very dense, sand and gravel with cobbles and boulders. Approximately 16 inches of fill material had been placed in the southeast corner of the excavation. There was no visible movement when the area was tamped with a trackhoe bucket. In the southeast area of the excavation, water was observed entering the excavation. According to the contractor, a drain will be installed in this area to drain the water to daylight. Based on our observations and because the sand and gravel contained cobble and boulders and is very dense, it is our opinion that the soil and bedrock observed during this site observation will support a spread footing foundations stem as resented in our eotechnical re ort Job No. 04-056, dated Ma 13, 2004.
