PRReport.Jan2018 February 11, 2018 TO: Vail Local Marketing District Advisory Council FROM: Kristin Yantis, MYPR CC: Mia Vlaar, Town of Vail RE: January 2018 Public Relations Report MYPR kicked off 2018 with the annual New York media tour, where we met with nearly 30 journalists in two and a half days. As part of that trip, MYPR also updated all media materials including the 2018 calendar of events, what’s new tipsheet, destination fact sheet and approved media images. The agency also worked on several other initiatives last month.  The new media center was launched to mirror the new look and feel of Vail.com.  MYPR was one of a few agencies invited to attend a media reception hosted by the CTO in conjunction with the launch of the Outdoor Retailer + Snow Show 2018. More than 50 media from throughout the United States attended the event. MYPR also submitted a “what’s new” press release on Vail for the media kit that was provided to attendees.  The agency also developed a content calendar of press releases from January to September to help guide our messaging.  MYPR also finalized plans for the Chicago media tour in February and started working on save the date invitations as well as the actual invite.  The agency also is coordinating with the Vail Valley Foundation on incorporating an element of Vail Dance Festival into the spring media mission to Mexico City. New York Media Tour Kristin Yantis and Sally Gunter from Vail Mountain traveled to NYC Jan. 8 -10 for media visits. We had meetings with nearly 30 writers in 2.5 days. The trip included two group dinners and several one -on-one appointments. Overall, the trip was incredibly suc cessful with a number of leads for summer 2018 resulting from the trip. The agency also followed up with every writer the week after the trip. Sample Media Placement Each month we will provide the VLMDAC with highlight clips. All media clips are available in the VLMD online portal.
