The purpose of this site visit was to observe the reinforcing of the existing steel beams in the
second floor framing and the steel columns in the lower and main levels of the commercial space.
This work is necessitated by the new residence construction above.
The following was noted: Once the columns where exposed it was found that some of the them
had been reinforced previously and additional reinforcing is not required. The remaining columns
reinforcing is complete generally with steel angles welded to the existing columns.
In lieu of adding WT sections to the bottom of the steel beams needing reinforcing, the contractor
has used equivalent back to back steel angles. The reinforcing of the steel beams is complete.
Based on our observation, the reinforcing of the existing steel framing is complete and in
accordance with our design intent.
