4. Building Code amendments as proposed by Vail Fire and Emergency Services
Presentation by Paul Cada, Wildland Program Administrator
Action Required
Mr. Cada gave a presentation on the need to continue to regulate wood shakes.
A request was made of the board to entertain a proposed change to the code that would get the criteria for wood shakes out of the zoning regulation and place them under the purview of
the board.
A lengthy discussion took place on the proposed amendment to the when and how much can be replaced without having to change to different roofing materials.
A motion was made by Kathy Langenwalter to table the proposed amendment until next month for additional information and to allow input from absentee board member Kyle Webb. Motion was
seconded by Rollie Kjesbo and approve unanimously by the board.
5. Update of International Plumbing Code and International Fuel Gas Code to the 2015 editions as per state criteria.
Presentation by Martin Haeberle, Chief Building Official
Action Required
Martin explained that the state has just adopted the 2015 plumbing and fuel gas codes. He had a conversation with DORA and found that the town would not have to adopt the codes to regulate
them. He has promised to bring before the board to see if they wanted to go ahead and have them adopted by town council.
After some discussion Rollie motioned that we go ahead and take them to council for adoption to ensure consistency.
