GENERAL NOTES
1. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT SCALE DRAWINGS EXCEPT FOR ESTIMATING PURPOSES.
2. THESE DRAWINGS HAVE BEEN PREPARED BASED UPON COMPUTER BASED DRAWINGS
PROVIDED BY THE OWNER.
3. PRIOR TO BIDDING THE WORK, CONTRACTOR SHALL VISIT THE SITE AND BECOME FAMILIAR

MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION NOTES
1. ALL NEW MATERIALS, FINISHES, COLORS, TEXTURES AND CONSTRUCTION SHALL
EXACTLY MATCH EXISTING CONSTRUCTION OF ADJACENT MATERIALS UNLESS
OTHERWISE NOTED IN THESE DRAWINGS.
2. SUBMIT PRODUCT DATA, SHOP DRAWINGS, SCHEDULES, AND SAMPLES TO THE
ARCHITECT FOR REVIEW BEFORE PROCURING OR INSTALLING ANY MATERIALS.
3. ALL SUBMITTALS EXCEPT ACTUAL SAMPLES AND COLOR CHIPS SHALL BE
TRANSMITTED ELECTRONICALLY.
4. SUBMIT LIST OF PROPOSED SUBMITTALS TO THE ARCHITECT BEFORE COMMENCING
ANY WORK. STANDARD CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS SUCH AS GYPSUM BOARD, METAL
STUDS, FASTENERS, ETC DO NOT REQUIRE A SUBMITTAL.

WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
CERTIFICATION OF INSTALLERS, PERFORMANCE OF SPECIAL INSPECTIONS, AND THE LIKE.
8. ANY PRODUCTS CONTAINING HIGH LEVELS OF VOCS (VOLATILE ORGANIC
COMPOUNDS) SHALL BE AVOIDED WHERE PRACTICABLE. PAINT, COATINGS AND
ADHESIVES SHALL BE VOC-FREE IF THESE PRODUCTS ARE READILY AVAILABLE.
9. ALL SURFACES WITHIN THE AREA OF WORK SHALL BE PATCHED AND REFINISHED AS
REQUIRED TO APPEAR NEW.
SPECIFICATIONS
1. Existing roof shall remain in place, with the new roof being placed over the top of the existing
roof. Contractor shall remove all gravel from existing roof before overlaying new roof system.
2. New roof system shall include:
a. Nailbase (3 1/2 rigid EPS (expanded polystyrene) bonded to ½ OSB) with an R-value
of not less than 10. Attach through existing roof and insulation into 3x10 beams using
ledger locks as shown on the detail.
b. Fully adhered membrane (Ice & Water Shield).
c. Asphalt shingles. Owens Corning Duration Storm impact resistant shingles, or
approved equal.
3. Sidewall flashing:
a. Sidewall flashing at CMU fire walls shall be removed and replaced with prefinished
metal flashing as shown on the detail.
4. Gutters shall be new 5 K-type continuous gutters with no splice joints, prefinished metal in a
color selected from the standard line of colors. New gutter outlets will match the existing style,
with a short vertical section and a 45-degree outlet directing the water away from the building.
Verify location of all outlets with architect.
5. Heat tape: Existing heat tape in gutters and downspouts shall be salvaged and reused where
possible. Provide new heat tape for any locations where existing tape is damaged.
6. Tie Off Anchors: Place tie-off anchors at top edge of roof for use by workers removing snow
from the roofs. Install galvanized or stainless steel lag screw eye with 1 min interior diameter,
at 12-feet on center maximum spacing, located on back side (north and east sides) of roof
within 24 of ridge. Provide blocking in nailbase to secure lag screw eye.
7. Skylights: Existing skylights shall be maintained. Raise skylights as required to ensure 8
minimum from roof surface to top of skylight curb. Install prefinished metal flashing from top of
curb to roof surface. Interior face of skylight curb shall match existing.
8. Contractor is to secure all permits, inspections, and the like.
9. Contractor shall provide the following documentation to the architect:
a. Submittal documentation for all materials to be used in the project
b. Subcontractor list stating name and contact information for each subcontractor, and the
portion of the work performed by that subcontractor
c. Warranty information
10. All paint shall be water-based, zero-VOC paint, Benjamin Moore Eco-Spec or approved equal.
Provide primer plus two finish coats. Satin finish.
SUBMITTALS REQUIRED TO ARCHITECT
THE ARCHITECT REQUIRES THE CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE THE OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW THE
FOLLOWING SUBMITTALS BEFORE THE CONTRACTOR COMMENCES WITH FABRICATION OR
ORDERING. OTHER SUBMITTALS MAY BE REQUIRED AT THE OWNER'S DISCRETION. THE
ARCHITECT WILL MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO REVIEW SUBMITTALS IN A TIMELY MANNER, AND
WILL EXPEDITE WHERE POSSIBLE. THE CONTRACTOR SHOULD ALLOW ONE WEEK FOR EACH
SUBMITTAL.
1. SHOP DRAWINGS FOR ENGINEERED TRUSSES OR ANY OTHER FABRICATED ITEM. THESE
DRAWINGS MUST INCLUDE FULL DIMENSIONS, CALCULATIONS, MATERIALS OR FINISHES
(WHERE APPROPRIATE), OR ANY OTHER BASIS FOR HOW THE FINAL DESIGN WAS DETERMINED.
2. DOOR AND WINDOW ORDERS, INCLUDING MANUFACTURER AND SERIES, SIZES, MATERIALS,
GLAZING TYPE, U-VALUES, SHGC VALUES, FINISHES, AND DETAIL DRAWINGS OF THE SHAPE OF
ALL STILES, RAILS, EXTRUSIONS, ETC. INCLUDE CLEAR NOTATIONS FOR LOCATIONS OF
TEMPERED GLAZING AND EGRESS WINDOWS.
