It is our understanding that the Town of Vail has to enlarge the existing 30"x30" louver opening on the east side of the generator room to 30" wide x 60" high for the installation of a new generator with a larger exhaust fan. Monroe and Newell Engineers, Inc. has determined that the proposed enlarged louver opening in the existing 8" CMU wall is structurally acceptable. The contractor shall follow the structural specifications and information in the attached General Notes and structural detail SX1 when increasing the size of the existing opening. In addition to the new opening the contractor will have to enlarge an existing louver opening to a width of 55 inches and a height of 70 inches. To accomplish this the bottom and one side of the existing opening can be cut out as shown in the attached section SX2. The contractor shall verify after cutting that wall reinforcement was not cut.
