RE: Structural Analysis – 3796 Lupine Dr, Vail, Colorado.
Dear Rich Laws;
At your request, this office performed a structural analysis for the above listed residence. The purpose of the
analysis was to review and provide recommendations for the conditions described below. The pertinent information
regarding the analysis is as follows:
ENTRY STAIRS FOOTING
You have reported to this office that the footing for the east side of the A unit entry stairs was poured in the wrong
location.
You proposed dowelling into the side of the existing footing to allow concrete to be poured adjacent to the existing
section, therefore adding to the width of the footing and supporting the wall above. This modification is a commonly
accepted practice.
This office reviewed photographs of the area with (4) #5 bars dowelled horizontally into the side of the existing
footing and (1) #5 bar running along the length of the addition, spliced to an additional dowel at the end. The
reinforcing steel for this added section of footing had been properly lapped and tied and had been placed in the forms
prior to concrete.
