ELEMENT ENVIRONMENTAL I Sunder 042618
1.0- This was an insp ection for suspectACM (Asbestos Containing Material) fora remodel.
Element Environmental conducted a visible inspectionfor visible materials that would
be imp acted during the remodel. This insp ection was limited to the areas found in the
Descriptionof the Samp ling Area 7.0. Although samp ling is destructive in nature, this
was a non-invasive insp ection. It was of materials that were accessible. If other suspect
materials become visible/app arentduring demolition or construction activities, work in
that area should be halted and more sampling/testing must take place, per Colorado
regulations. Any susp ect materials that were not tested are to be assumed to contain
asbestos.
2.0- A limited bulk samp ling of from all susp ect materials was conducted in accordance with
Colorado State Requirements. The minimum number of samp les per homogenous areas
are as follows:
2.1- Surfacing Materials- <1,000 sq.ft.- Minimum of 3 samp les
1,000 sq.ft.- 5,000sq.ft.- Minimum of 5 samp les
>5,000 sq.ft. Minimum of 7 samp les
2.2- Miscellaneous materials- Minimum of 2 samples
2.3-Thermal Systems Insulation (TSI)- Minimum of 3 samp les
3.0- The purposeof the inspectionis to identify materials that are homogenous. A
homogeneous area is defined as one which shares susp ect material, texture, color,
location, and/or ap p arenttime of construction. The materials are segregated into
separate homogenous areas. The size is determined and then samp les are taken. The
materials are touched to determine friability. Friable ACM is material that can be
crushed or reduced to powder by hand pressure The samp les are taken in a random
numerical sequence.
4.0- Josh Johnson, a Colorado Departmentof Public Health & Environment certified building
insp ector, certification number: 18401, p erformedthe insp ection. Samp les taken were
sent to CEI Labs in Cary, North Carolina. The samp les were analyzed by PLM(Polarized
Light Microscopy)analysis. Per the CDPHE Regulation any sample that is found by a lab
to be trace,or <1%asbestos, is considered to be ACM material. This material would still
be a regulated material by CDPHE.The sample must have an additional "point count"
performedto be considered less than 1% and not be regulated by the CDPHE.The lab's
documents with analyses and findings are found below.

The areas on the Table that are in Black did not contain asbestos.
The areas on the table in Red contained asbestos:
• The Orange Peel Texture on the UpperLevel
• The Orange Peel Texturein the Small Coat Closet, the large Storage Closet, Back
Bedroom, and Laundry
• The Large Storage closet Sheet Vinyl and Mastic
These materials become friable when they are removed. If these materials are to be disturbed or removed, the
materials MUST be remediated in accordance with the CDPHE Regulation No. 8 by a licensed abatement
contractor. For residential p rojectsover 32 square feet of surfacing material, 50 linear feet of pip einsulation, or 55
gallon drum of waste, and for commercial p rojectwith 160 square feet of surfacing material, 260 linear feet of pip e
insulation, or a 55 gallon drum of waste,a p ermitis required. The p ermitis through the CDPHE.Along with the
p ermit,a final air clearance is required by a certified Air Monitoring Specialist. For p rojectsover 3,000 square feet,
a Project Design and Project Manager is required. Element Environmental is certified and can perform Final
Clearances, Project Design, and Project Management if required. All work p erformedMUST follow all EPA,State
Regulation 8,and OSHA regulations to p rotectthe general p ublic, the client, and the workers.lf you have any
questions, feel free to contact me with my information below.
• 9 x 9 Tile and Mastic. *The 9 x9 tile was seen under the carp etnear the
Mechanical Room door. It is assumed that the tile is everywhere on the Main
Level, under the carpet
This material is considered non-friable.If the tile and mastic will be rendered friable by mechanical means, then
the removal of it is regulated by the CDPHE.If not, then the removal of it is regulated by OSHA.You must consult
your landfill to see if they will accep tit and how it must be p rep ared.lt may need to be segregated from the other
materials so that the landfill may accep tit. Element Environmental recommends that an abatement contractor
remove this material to ensure that the workers are trained and that the materials are handled correctly.
Some of the house has been remodeled and covered by newer finishes. Drywall, sheet vinyl, or
tile may be discovered under the layers of paneling or flooring during the demolition. If they
are, they should be assumed to be Asbestos Containing Materials. Please feel free to contact
me with any questions with my information below.

Due to the limitations of the EPA 600 method, nonfriable organically bound materials (NOBs) such as
vinyl floor tiles can be difficult to analyze via polarized light microscopy (PLM). EPA recommends that
all NOBs analyzed by PLM, and found not to contain asbestos, be further analyzed by Transmission
Electron Microscopy(TEM). Please note that PLM analysis of dust and soil samples for asbestos is not
covered under NVLAP accreditation. Estimated measurement of uncertainty is available on request.

Dear Mr.Sunderland,
I am pleased to offeryou this report for work performed at the referencesite.
On July 1"and July 3rd, 2018 Mr.Joshua Johnson with Element Environmental performedfinal clearances for
147 RockledgeRd.,Vail, CO. The final clearances consist of a visual inspection for dust and debris and ambient
air sampling. The clearances consisted of 2 containments:
• July 15T, 2018—Removal was of all of the drywall on the upper 2nd level.
• July 3rd, 2018—Removal was of the sheet vinyl and drywall in the storagecloset, and of the
drywall in the laundry closet.
Any material that is remaining must be assumed to be ACM material until it is tested.
Mr.Joshua Johnson CDPHE AMS#18401 performeda visual inspection. After the visual inspection was
complete, air samples were taken of each of the work areas. Five samples were taken from each work area.
The air samples were analyzed by PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy)per the NIOSH 7400 method. All samples
must below 0.01 f/ccin order to pass the air clearance. All samples were below the limit amount.
Per Colorado Reg 8 Part B guidelines. The work area is now clear for occupancy or normal work to
resume.
Any suspect asbestos containing materials (ACM) remaining should be assumed to contain asbestos unless
they are properlytested and analyzed by a CDPHE accredited inspector. All work performed MUST follow
appropriate EPA,CDPHE,OSHA,and local governmentguidelinesto protectthe employees, occupants, and the
environment.
