Equipment in Use: H-P/Kumar's Site Activities: Excavation for lower bench was cut in multiple levels from about 3' to about 20' below adjacent ground surface. Materials exposed in the bottom of excavation consisted of dense silty sand and gravel in the north area, and entryway had silty sand and gravel at subgrade. West and southwest (lower) portion bench needed to be deepened to sand and gravel soils due to low bearing clayey sand soils. Lower east footing line was very moist to wet and also needed removed. Seepage and entry at middle south area being dewatered. Equipment in Use: H-P/Kumar's Site Activities: We met Pat Brown to discuss subxcavating of clayey sand areas. The unsuitable areas were probed with a bar and penetrations of 6" to 2 feet noted. It was recommended to lower the drain at the south side, subexcavate to natural sandy gravels and replace with Class 2 aggregate base course. The west/southwest area excavation was recommended to be deepened 1 to 2 feet to natural sandy gravels and if groundwater not encountered, extend the footings down. If groundwater was encountered, dewater and place Class 2 base course. The on-site soils are unsuitable for below footing fill. A return visit is scheduled for early the week of (8/27/18)to verify soils and dewatering.
