Quebec St. #400 Page: 1 of 1 Centennial, Colorado 80111 Project: Proposed Residence, Lots 14A and 14B, Bighorn Fifth Addition, 4872 Meadow Lane, Vail, Colorado Construction Activities Observed: Excavating for lower level bench of Primary Residence. Equipment in Use: H-P/Kumar's Site Activities: Excavation for lower bench was cut in two levels from about 3' to 6' below adjacent ground surface. Materials exposed in the bottom of excavation consisted of natural silty clayey sand and gravel soils which were moist. Two areas had received from 11' to 3' depth of Class 2 aggregate base course placed in a compacted condition. Dewatering drain was lowered into sump manhole since grade was too high to gravity discharge. We recommended permanent discharge into storm drain manhole. Southern area dewatered to sump. Sump should be made permanently discharge into storm drain manhole. The lower bench subgrade area is suitable for spread footings designed for an allowable bearing pressure of 2,000 psf at this time. Upper bench area was previously observed as acceptable as discussed in our letter dated August 23, 2018.
