Background
The project goal is to undergo testing at the final point in construction to determine if the unit
meets the 2012 IECC requirements for infiltration. Active Energies was contracted to perform a
final blower door test to determine total air infiltration. The home is permitted under The Town
of Vail and requires blower door testing per the IECC. The blower door testing must show a
tested value of 3 ACH50 or lower in order to comply with the IECC.
Site Observations
Construction of the building envelope was complete. All exterior openings were shut and locked
and interior doors were open. The blower door test was performed in the door adjacent to the
garage. The pressure probe was placed outside.
Blower Door Test
The unit was depressurized, utilizing blower door testing equipment to a pressure of-50 Pa. At
the test pressure, the CFM50 was recorded, in order to determine the ACH5o.
The blower door air leakage resulted in the following measurements: 2.3ACHso
