SCOPE OF WORK: CertainTeed Presidential Asphalt Shingles
1. If applicable, obtain building permit, schedule inspections and close out permit.
2. Create job site safety plan and keep Material Safety Data Sheets on site.
3. Each day reasonable measures will be taken to protect the building envelope, landscaping, property and residents/tenants of
the job-site.
4. No more existing roofing shall be removed in any given day than that which can be made watertight the same day.
5. Temporarily remove existing heat tape and save for reinstallation. Note that Turner Morris makes not guarantee that existing
heat tape functions properly. Any heat tape that does not work will be replaced as needed at $13 per linear foot with new
120V or 240V 6W per foot heat tape.
6. Tear off and dispose of existing shingles, underlayment and ridge vents down to the substrate. Any adhered ice and water
shield will remain if it cannot easily be removed.
a. Existing birdhouse ridge vents will be completely removed and disposed of to allow for rigid ridge venting proposed
by roof consultant.
7. Temporarily remove existing wood siding and save for reinstallation as possible. Note that existing wood siding is old and
likely will require replacement on a change order basis.
8. Replace any rotten/saturated plywood decking at a cost of $3.50 per square foot.
9. Adhere new Carlisle WIP 300 Bituthene underlayment above the prepared substrate.
a. Extend Bituthene up sidewall and headwall locations up to 16” at all locations as possible to provide additional
protection at roof-to-wall transitions.
b. Extend 12” of bituthene along eaves and wrap over 2” of vertical fasica board below the edges of the roof.
10. Custom fabricate and install 24 gauge prefinished D-Style Drip Edge with an 8” Stretch Out and 2” face above bituthene.
a. Strip in new Drip Edge with new bituthene and continue above.
11. Fasten CertainTeed Presidential Shingles that include a Lifetime Warranty. Color to be chosen by owners.
12. Reinstall existing heat tape as possible.
13. Install all flashing details at skylights, chimneys, headwalls, sidewalls, roof penetrations, etc. according to both
manufacturer’s and NRCA recommended specifications.
14. Thoroughly clean job site of all job-related debris.
