VAIL VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER EMERGENCY RESPONDER RADIO COVERAGE SYSTEM PERMIT SUBMITTALS Submitted to VAIL FIRE DEPARTMENT 2399 N FRONTAGE RD W. VAIL, CO 81657 7/24/17 Submitted by: ICC WIRELESS SUBS!DIARY or INTERFACE COMMUNICATIONS 10 INVERNESS DRIVE EAST, SUITE 100, ENGLEWOOD, CO 80112 Vail Valley Medical Center Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System System Narrative SYSTEM NARRATIVE Overview The following is a design submittal for an Emergency Responder Radio Coverage Distributed Antenna System (DAS) at the Vail Valley Medical Center, 181 West Meadow Drive, Vail, CO 81657. The intent of the system is to enhance first responder communications within the building for Vail fire on the Colorado DTRS system, per Vail Fire Code, IFC 2015. The project is based upon an Axell Wireless bi-directional amplifier (BDA) and a Solid Technologies Express Distributed Antenna System (DAS) platform. The system has been design to meet and exceed the requirements of IFC 2015. Key points include: • RSSI of-95 dBm or better over 90% of the facility including areas below grade. Critical areas, such as the fire command center(s), the fire pump room(s), interior exit stairways, exit passageways, elevator lobbies, standpipe cabinets, sprinkler sectional valve locations, and other areas required by the fire code official, shall be provided with 99 percent floor area radio coverage. • 24 hour UPS with dedicated lock circuit for DAS components • NEMA 4 enclosures for DAS components Permitting ICC Wireless will coordinate all required Permitting. Design The design of the 800MHz Emergency Responder Radio Coverage DAS is based on a goal of achieving an RSSI level of -95 dBm. It includes a bi-directional amplifier (BDA) for the 800MHz Public Safety Band, head end and remote DAS electronics, indoor omni-directional antennas, plenum-rated 1/2" coaxial cable that will be installed from the remote hub to each antenna, and a YAGI Donor antenna that will be installed on the roof. The BDA, DAS head end, and UPS will be located in the IDF closet on Level 3 of the East Wing. Acceptance Testing Final Acceptance Testing will be done in accordance to with IFC 2015 guidelines. The Final Acceptance Documentation shall contain the results of coverage testing, after commissioning, on the Colorado DTRS 800 MHz Radio system. 1 Methodology Talk-back testing from a site to the Colorado DTRS 800 MHz Radio System shall use Vail Fire Department radio(s) and be witnessed by a representative of the Vail Fire Department. Per IFC 2015, each floor of the building shall be divided into a grid of 20 test areas. Measurements shall be taken in each of these areas with spectrum analyzer in order to identify which areas of the building are within compliance. A test location approximately in the center of each test area shall be selected for the test, with the radio enabled to verify two-way communications to and from the outside of the building through the Colorado DTRS 800 MHz Radio System. Once the test location has been selected, that location shall represent the entire test area. Failure in the selected test location shall be considered failure of that test area. The radio system signal level shall meet or exceed -95 dBm at 90% or more of the locations measured within each grid area. The areas to be measured include all common areas, garages, stairwells, elevators and corridors. The recorded measurements shall be the largest of the readings taken. Results The results shall be displayed in tabular form. For the facility, the number of pass measurements (meeting or exceeding -95 dBm) shall be divided by the total number of measurements taken to provide a metric of pass percentage. This value should be greater than 90%. In addition, floor plans with the measurements values overlaid on them shall be included. Included with this package: • Wiring Riser and Distribution Diagrams (Schematic Design, Antenna Layout, and Location of BDA and DAS Equipment • System Link Budget • Manufacturer Specification Sheets 2 Vail Valley Medical Center Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System System Design Vail Valley Medical Center - Phase Ic 181 W Meadow Drive, Vail CO 81657 4 r r + p ,1 10 . - ' T 7 ' i`wwii [ 74-1Ea _.:.._R-E4.11f. _ e..e.p ee 111 el ozn MI 1111 x„.„_ *h. ren ar mmY °e --Iz .e, H 1 _ H j'e I-I — I..I 1. „„,„.74.7.4.hioz 41:,,. ,,,1 \r4... This CA-14 series, which now incorporates the wider frequency range of the CA-13 series, has been designed for sys- tems requiring signal combining over all the wireless bands from 350 to to 5,850 MHz.Isolation has been maximized and passive intermodulation (PIM) minimized.
