` IYHYis the Town of 1/ail trying to turn the Vail Golf Course Clubhouse into an event center?
•. Plans for the "upgrade and remodel" of the Clubhouse expand its capacity and size well beyond the
footprint of the current clubhouse.
• The plans reduce the Golf and Nordic-uses to approximately 25% of the total square footage of the
new building. . .
The main entrance to the building will be for events, while golfers must enter through a side entrance and
the pro shop.
• The PEC-approved conditional use permit would allow for weddings and events outside with tents, with the
capacity for hundreds of people in the interior and exterior spaces. The Town plans on 60 events per year,
concentrated in the summer months-which is three events per week and every weekend night.
• The Town's only plan for accommodating the new events is to add a mere 10 additional parking spaces
and to try a vague valet parking system.
WHYis the Town of Vail ignoring legal deed restrictions and covenants on the Golf Course?
• In 1966, the Pulis family leased land to the Vail Metropolitan Recreation District for the sole purpose of
creating the Vail Gol# Course, with the condition that "A golf clubhouse may be built upon the leased
premises. Any such golf clubhouse shall consist solely of facilities ordinarily available in such structures
operated in conjunction with golf courses..."
• In 1984, the Pulis family deeded the Golf Course land to the Town of Vail with an additional permanent
rstriction that required the Town to use the fand "in perpetuity for a public golf course or open space or
park for the benefit of the public and only such other related support facilities required for those purposes."
WHYis the Town of I/ail moving the 18th hole of the Go/f Course, creating significant hazards to golfers?
• The Town plans to shorten the 18th hole for the expanded event center, which will seriously damage the
quality of the golf course.
• The location cf the new hole creates serious dangers from the driving range for galfers and guests, forcing
the Town to spend hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars for new driving range netting.
WtlYis the Town of I/ail backtracking on commitments the Town Council made in public meetings?
• The Town Council said in a public meeting that a(i the remodeling and renovation would take place within
the footprint afi tte xiting building, which is now clearly not the case.
WHYis the Town of 1/ail continuing to spend taxpayer money on a project that is in litigation?
 • The Town is continuing to spend money on consultants, plans, architects, and others even though the
, project faces a legal challenge in court. Shouldn't they resolve the legal issues first?
WHYisn't the Town of I/ail acting in the best interests of its residents, voters, and taxpayers?
• Everyone agrees #hat the Vail Golf Course Clubhouse needs an upgrade. Everyone agrees that it's a
wonderful amenity for the community and guests. Instead of trying to turn the Clubhouse into something it's
not, why not stay within the existing uses and covenants and get fhe remodel done?
The Vail Town Council will hold its last public hearing on this matter on
