The weight of the units has been accounted for in the structural design dead loads, and the flush mount system does not affect the roof loading provisions for snow drifting or sliding. No changes to the approved structural plans or truss shop drawings are required. The photovoltaic solar panel arrays are proposed for portions of the roofs of Units 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 18, 21, 25, 27, 28, 30, 31, and 32. The arrays consist of Hanwha Q.Peak G4.300 solar panels mounted flush on the roof. The manufacturer’s listed weight is 41.45 pounds for each 65.7 inch by 39.4 inch panel. Flush mount systems using a Unirac racking system with Sunmodo feet is proposed. Total weight of the solar panels and mounting systems impose less than 3 pounds per square foot on the roof. The design dead load for the roof, as listed on the approved plans, of 20 psf includes adequate allowance for the 3 psf of the solar panel arrays. The solar panels proposed are flush mounted to the roof. The panels are 1.26 inches tall, and the mounting systems proposed hold them just above and parallel to the roof surface. Tilting or elevated systems that would affect snow drifting or sliding are not proposed. The height of the panels proposed and the surfacing does not require any changes to the snow drifting or sliding provisions of the previously approved plans and truss shop drawings. In summary, I have reviewed the rooftop solar array submittal and no changes to the approved structural plans or truss shops are required. Sincerely, John E. Partch, P.E.
