D CLARIFICATION/CHANGE
This is in response to my evaluation of the existing deck framing at the above referenced residence. Much
of the existing framing is deteriorating and needs to be replaced. The framing consists of 2x8 joists
supported by 3 1/8" glue-lam beams on 6x6 posts. Based on my calculations, if the framing is replaced
with similar materials, it will conform to current code requirements. The only thing that needs to be
changed is the handrail pickets, which are spaced too far apart to meet current code. They should be
reinstalled or replaced with similar 1"x1" steel tubes according to the attached detail.
