Architectural Comments:
1 The Town's records indicate that the building is Type VA construction. Please provide a
listed/accepted one hour assembly for the roof and change the drawings to address the change. (IBC
Table 601)
2 The Town's amendments require that all roofs be class A. Provide information on the proposed roof
covering to verify it meets Class A requirements. (Town Amendments and IBC 1505)
3 The generator model is not shown. Is it diesel or natural gas? If it is diesel please show the location
and amount of storage. If it is natural gas please show the gas piping on the drawings.
4 Please show the flue termination for the generator and provide installation instructions to verify
manufacturers clearances are met.
Please refer to the cover sheet for information on resubmitting plans. In order to avoid delays in issuance of

This letter is in response to your Building Safety and Inspection Services Plan
Review Comments letter dated May 15, 2008, and our recent telephane
conversation.
It is my unders#anding irom our phone conversation that NO revisions to the
drawings or additional copies are required from our office. The requested
answers to the "Architectural Comments" listed below are acceptabie. You had
only requested information and/or clarifications far Items 1 and 2 from our office.
1. "The Town's records indicate that the building is Type V-A construction.
Pfease provide a listed/accepted one hour assembly for the roof and
change the drawings to address the change. (IBC Table 6�1}"
Per United States Gypsum FloorlCeiling Assemblies, Fire-rated
Construc#ion, 1 hr. finish rating: "Floor/ceiling or roof/ceiling — two
layers 5/8" SHEETROCK Brand Gypsum Panets, FIRECODE Core,
attached to wood framing — GA FC5406 or RC2601."
The to#a! assembly consists of 2-layers 5/8" Firecode DW, 3/4" x 11
1/4" LVL's @ 12" o.c. framing members, non-vented R-47 "Optima
Blown-in Blanket System" cavity insulation with "Membrane Smart
Vapoc Retarder", 5/$" C-C Ext-APA 32/16 piywood roof decking and a
Ctass A built-up gravel-ballasted finished roofing material.
Should there be any proposed alternates during the construction
process for the insulation and/or finished roo�ing material, the
double layer of Firecode DW shouid maintain the required 1-hour
rating.
2. "The Town's amendments require that all roofs be Class A. Provide
information on the proposed roaf covering to verity it meets Class A
requirements. (Town Amendments and IBC 1505)"
Per Johns-Manville (or approved equaf) Technical Services
Department "Built-Up Roofing Specification 4GNG for a Class A
certification: 1 layer sheathing paper, 4-ply fiberglass reinforced
roofing felts over nail-able roof deck with gravel finish surfacing (to
match existing building roof gravel material}.

Application
Over wood board decks, one ply of sheathing paper must be ased
under the base fielt a�d on top o€ the wood board deck.
Nute: On roof decks wtth slopes up to t" per Eoot {83.3 mm/m), the
roofng felts may be installed either perpendicular or paraltel to t�e
roof inclir�e. Qn slopes over t" per foot j83.3 mm/m}, refer Eo
Patagtaph 6.11 of this section for special requirements.
Using GlasBase Plus, PermaPly 28 or Ventsulation, start widi an
18" {457 mm) width (the use of a specific base sheermay be a
condition of GuaranteeJ. The fallowing base sheet courses are to be
applied fuil width, lapping the preceding felt 2" {51 mm) on t�e side
laps and 4" (102 mm) on the end faps. Nail the side laps 9" (229 mm) o.c.
Built-Up Roofing Specifications

Flaod the surface with the appropriate asphalt at an approx+mate

acceptahle graveE at a rate of 40U Ibs. per square 119.5 kg/m�► or an
acceptable slag at a rate of 3tlQ Ibs. per square {ta.6 kg/m'}.
