At your request, o» IV�ay 4, 2007, we visited tk�e cons�vction site at the F�detweiss
Condominaums, 103 Willow �lace, Town of Vail, Eagle County, Colorado. �'he purpose of our site
visit was to observe the soils e�posed in the foundation excavation for the propased �emodel.
The e�cavation consisted o�a perimeter trench on the south side ofthe building. The depth
of the trench varied from about 4 feet along the west edge to about 8 feet alang the east edge. The'
material encountered in the t�aRCh was not suitable for the designed bearing ca.pacity of 3000 psf:
The rnatexial encountered in the tnmch consisted mostly oftopsoil and fill. After a conversation
with Reid, it was deternnined that the depth to the e��sti�g footings aftlae building are abaut 14 feet
below grade.
As a result of the varyi�ng soi! conditaons, wc recommend tb�e pzoposed remodel be
supported with helical pie�rs. We recommend consvlting with your stz�ctuxal cngin�er and the
helical pier installer about the design and eo�astructian of the helical piers. The piers could be
subject to fluctuat�ng gmund water coridxt�ons and should be pmt$cted from corrosaar�.
This repvrt t�as been prepared accordang to Iocally accep�ted professianal Geotechnical
engineering standards for simiiar metl�ods of testang and soil cvnditions at this tirrae. There is no
other warranty either expressed or implied.

12/8/2006.The plan revisions are clouded and dated January 30, 2007.
Buildinq Deaartment comments:
1. Four sets of revised drawings are submitted with this letter. Revisions to the original drawing
set are clouded and dated on this new issue set The door schedule is revised for a type "c"
door to have a 45 minute fire rating and a metal jamb. This is for doors 101,102, and 204.
2. The accessible route is on the driveway ramp with a key pad to operate the overhead garage
door and a grab rail that follows the ramp path. This is the agreement from our meeting at the
Town of Vail 1/16/07.
Structural and Mechanical commerrts:
3. Four sets of new stamped structural drawings are submitted to dariiy building details.
