Project Description:
Design Review approval is being sought to replace the two seasonal conference
tent structures located at Hotel Talisa with a removable ice rink & yurt structure.
The ice rink is a rink that freezes at freezing temperature without the use of
mechanical equipment. The yurt will be used to house ice skates & the rental
operation associated with the use of the ice rink.The ice rink will primarily serve
the hotel & conference guests already utilizing the property.Both structures will
be removed in the spring to allow for the conference tent facilities to return.Both
facilities will be erected on the platform and ground that exists today but which
platforms may be paved with concrete in the future.

Conditions:
- Applicant shall remove the ice rink and yurt by April 15, 2019.
- Approval of this project shall lapse and become void one (1) year following the date of final approval, unless
a building permit is issued and construction is commenced and is diligently pursued toward completion.
- Design Review Board approval does not constitute a permit for building. Please consult with Town of Vail
building personnel prior to construction activities.
- The proposed yurt will require a building permit or temporary structure permit.
- Prior to issuance of a building permit or installation of the ice rink, a Colorado Licensed structural engineer
shall review the existing deck platform and confirm that it can support the live load of the proposed rink
including the structure the ice and the skaters. A letter indicating the structural integrity of the deck shall be
submitted to the Town of Vail Building Department prior to installation of the ice rink.
- Prior to issuance of a building permit for the yurt, applicant shall submit stamped plans from a Colorado
licensed engineer to demonstrate the yurt meets a 90 PSF roof snow load and a 110 MPH wind load
including tie downs.
- The proposed yurt shall meet all accessible provisions of the applicable building codes.
- The proposed yurt shall meet all code required flame spread and smoke developed requirements.
- Prior to issuance of a building permit, the applicant shall submit to and obtain approval from the Town of Vail
Fire Marshal on the details on the proposed fire pit.
- Design Review Board approval shall not become valid for 20 days following the date of approval, pursuant
to the Vail Town Code, Chapter 12-3-3 Appeals.
