~ ~ RESOLUTION WHEREAS, there is presently pending before the Colorado State Legislature proposed legislation designated as 5. C. R. 1 and H. C. R. 1002, entitled: "AMENDMENT TO SECTION ? OF ARTICLE X OF THla CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF COLORADO, CON- CERNING LOCAL GOVERNMENT, PROVIDING FOR THE POWERS OF COUNTIES, CITIES, CITIES AND COUNTIES, AND TOWNS TO LEVX AND COLLECT TAXES, AND PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF STATE-WIDE SALES, USE, AND EXCISE TAXES, FOR THE SUPPORT OF COUNTIES, CITIES, CITIES AND COUNTIES, AND TOWNS PURSUANT TO LAW;"and WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees far the Town of Vail has reviewed and examined the proposed legislation referred to in this resolution and has found cextain provisions therein contained to be contrary to the b~:st interests of the citi;~ens of the Town of Vail as well as detrimental to the orderly and progressive growth of the community, as well as other municipalities within the State of Colorado; and VitHEREA5, the Board of Truatees for the Town of Vail, from its investiga::ion and examination of the proposed legislation referred to herein, has determined that what is canternplated in the Constitutional Amendment would tend to create grossly inequitable revenue difficulties far the Town of Vail and other municipalities dependent upon sales and use taxes; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Trustees for the Town of Vail, go on record as officially opposing the enactment of S. C. R, 1 and H. C, R. 1002 on the basis of inherent inequities which would be promulgated in legislation follow- ing the amendment to the Cor~,stitution of the State of Colorado as prapased in this legislation thereby creating detrimental revenue problems for municipal. governrr-ents throughout the State of Colorado.
