Members Present: Kaye Ferry; Bob McKown; Mark Conlin; Jill Alfond; KJ Williams Introduction and brief discussion with Todd DeJong of Lone Star Security to LLA. Todd DeJong made a brief presentation to the LLA. Bob McKown stated he made a suggestion to Todd to appear before the LLA as he saw him at the CSE meeting last week. He introduced himself and said they are introducing new ideas into Lone Star Security and implementing new systems. They are upgrading their services and communication systems to better serve their clients. He wants feedback as to how they are doing throughout this process. The employees who are hired do have TIPs training and are looking at using retired police and fire personnel, armed services employees, etc. 2. Consideration of the Authority of recent renewals a. Kelly Liken LLC dba Kelly Liken, a Hotel & Restaurant Liquor License Registered Manager: Kelly Liken Expiration Date: May 6, 2010 Bob McKown made a motion to approve; 2nd by KJ Williams; passed 5-0 b. Vail Amphitheater Corporation, a Tavern Liquor License Registered Manager: Jennifer Mason Expiration Date: March 30, 2010 Bob McKown made a motion to approve; 2nd by Jill Alfond; passed 5-0 2. PUBLIC HEARING — Consideration of the Authority of a Special Events Permit for the Taste of Vail Inc. to host a Taste of Vail Colorado Lamb Cookoff special event for 2010 at the location of Gore Creek Drive, Hanson Ranch Road, Checkpoint Charlie, Seibert Plaza, Gore Creek Promenade and Bridge Street, Vail, Colorado, on Thursday, April 8, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Represented by Amy Oberley, Event Manager for Taste of Vail Bob McKown made a motion to approve; 2nd by Jill Alfond; passed 5-0 3. PUBLIC HEARING — Consideration of the Authority of a Special Events Permit for the Millennium Society to host a special event for Spring Back to Vail 2010 at Checkpoint Charlie, International Bridge, Meadow Drive, Gore Creek Drive and Bridge Street, Vail Village, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 16, 17, and 18, 2010, from 7:00 a.m. to 11: 59 p.m. each day. Represented by Martha Brassel and Greg Schwartz, Event Manager for the Millennium Society Jill Alfond stated she is a board member for the Milliennium Society and recused herself from the voting of this item. Greg stated he made the licensed area larger than it will probably be but they do not have their final plans in place yet. Wyclef Jean (at Ford Park) and Guster among others will be the music lineup. Pond skimming will be on Sunday, the last day of skiing and will hopefully bring people off the mountain. Bob McKown made a motion to approve; 2nd by Mark Conlin; passed 5-0 4. PUBLIC HEARING — Consideration of the Authority of a Special Events Permit for the Millennium Society to host a special event for Spring Back to Vail 2010 at the Ford Park Parking Lots, Vail, CO on Friday and Saturday, April 16, and 17, 2010, from 7:00 a.m. to 11: 59 p.m. each day. Represented by Martha Brassel and Greg Schwartz, Event Manager for the Millennium Society Wyclef Jean is the headliner at this show. Bob McKown made a motion to approve; 2nd by Mark Conlin; passed 5-0 5. Any other matters before the authority. Mark Conlin stated he is resigning from the LLA as he is moving at the end of the month. Discussion ensued about the next 2 meeting dates. We need a quorum for both April and May meetings. May might be an issue and we may need to have a special meeting called for an earlier date. We will continue to discuss. 6. Next regular Meeting of the Vail Local Licensing Authority will be Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. 15. Adjournment. Mark Conlin made a motion to adjourn, 2nd by Bob McKown; passed 5-0.
