Appeal of the Design Review Board's Decision to Den the Application to~Construct a Duplex on Lot 8, Bi horn Subdivision On March 2, 1983 the Design Review Board denied an application to erect the Keller Duplex on Lupine Drive. The vote was none for, five against, with Al Amaral. abstaining. The Board cited section 18.54.070, paragraph L, in their motion for denial: L. Removal .of trees, shrubs, and nonhazardous native plant materials should be limited to removal of those essential for the development of the site. The majority felt that the house could be resited in order to save a number of trees. Enclosed is a copy of the topographic survey with the approximate location of the proposed duplex, decks, garages and' existing trees. The existing residence is to be torn down. March 15, 1983 Mayor Rodney Slifer Members of the Vail Town Council Box 100 Vail, CO 81658 Dear Mayor Slifer and Council Members: It is my understanding that a design appeal for lot #8, Bighorn subdivision, is coming before the council on March 15, 1983. As a neighboring property owner of lots #12 and #13, Bighorn sub- division, I concur with the findings of the Design Review Board and urge the totr~ council to uphold they findings and the recommendations of the DR B. Specifically, I have great concern over the loss of the large, indigenous trees on this property and their impact on this area.
