Town of Vail Town Council
Dear ~2s. lwahrlich and Gentleman,
I firmly believe that the ordinace that you are considering is
not in the town`s best._intrest. Tf you allow persons who
r reside outside the town limits to determine policy in 'a given
area; in this case liquor licenses; you open yourselves up to
the temptation of staffing other boards and x~ositions with
out of town persons,i.e. nonresidents. I'm not sure of the
legal ramifications of such a decision, however it could make
the town a little more vulnerable to a.lawsuit based on a
denial vote by non-resident board member. I personally would
like to avoid any situation which might encourage complications.
I urge you not to enact this ordinace on these grounds. ?Ve must
work instead to overcome the apathy which makes these board seats
go unfilled, and create a sense of participation, anlong our~res-
idents.
