The . at Vail September 18, 1990 Ms. Caroline Fisher Town of Vail Public Relations Officer 75 South Frontage Road Vail, CO 81657 Dear Ms. Fisher: I would like for the members of the Town Council of Vail to consider my application for a position on the Vail Valley Marketing Board. A common desire to ensure the Vail Valley's position as the premiere summer mountain destination resort in this county is the basis for my interest in the position on the Vail Valley Marketing Board. My solid experience, genuine interest and willingness to devote time and energy to working with the Board to achieve our goals make me an ideal candidate for appointment. Prior to moving to the Valley, I lived and worked in Steamboat Springs and most recently Los Angeles. As Director of Tourism Development for L'Ermitage Hotels, a collection of luxury, all suite hotels in Beverly Hills, I was an active participant in the Domestic and International Tourism marketing efforts of a number of organizations. These included a position on the Marketing Committee of the Greater Los Angeles Visitors and Convention Bureau; a member of the California Office of Tourism's Sales Missions; an active participant with the California Travel Industry Association; and a member of T.A.S.C., the Tourism Association of Southern California. The common bond of these organizations' functions was to provide a co-operative forum in the marketplace for increasing low season tourism revenue. My background of service and successes within these organizations brings a solid base of destination tourism marketing experience to the Vail Valley Marketing Board. The growth of summer tourism in the Vail Valley has been my central focus since moving to the area this past February. I have been a regular attendee and participant in the Marketing Board's efforts for the past six months. As Director of Sales at The Comfort Inn in Avon, my professional commitment to summer marketing encouraged me to become personally involved in all local efforts to bring more revenue to our Valley outside of ski season. Now, as the incoming Director of Sales and Marketing at The Lodge at Vail, I would like to use the position on the Marketing Board as a catalyst to focus the pooled resources of all accommodations throughout the Valley on a co-operative comprehensive approach to summer marketing.
