Amount of contribution requested: $886,810 (See attached detail of proposed 2011 budget and list of 2010 event funding allocations.) 8. Organization fiscal year-end: December 9. Are your books audited? No 10. How will the contribution be used? Special Event Funding for events produced in Vail in 2011 and Independent Intercept Surveys to assess ROI to the Town of Vail. 11. How does your request support item 1C of the contribution policy? The Vail Town Council designated the CSE by ordinance in 2002 for the purpose of developing and supporting a calendar of events that accomplish the following goals: · Assist in balancing the year-round economy · Increase sales and lodging tax revenues in the Town of Vail · Promote a strong sense of community · Appeal to a diversity of interests · Provide a better quality of life for guests and residents · Entice visitors to return, and · Increase the length of their visits All funds are allocated based on objective criteria which was derived to support these purposes. 12. Who currently funds your organization (other governments, private donations, user fees, etc.)? No one 13. Organization's mission statement: The mission of the Vail Commission on Special Events (CSE) is to support and assess a diverse collection of special events, both large and small, which promote Vail's economic vitality, sense of community, and increase the quality of the experience for guests and residents year-round. Town of Vail Commission on Special Events2010 Actuals: Direct Event Funding $788,810 $789,000 IFSC World Cup* $45,000 $45,000 Administrative Expenses $3,000 $2,810 Subtotal w/out surveys: $836,810 $836,810 Independent Intercept Surveys** $50,000 $0 TOTAL $$ Requested: $886,810 $836,810 2011 CSE Budget Request: *IFSC World Cup was funded in 2010 under Council Contributions but moved into the CSE's budget for administrative purposes. **These funds would be spent to contract a 3rd party independent data analysis firm to better assess the Town of Vail's ROI from their investment in Special Events. The CSE is proposing to evaluate events receiving an amount greater than $20,000, with the exception of the participatory sports events which are able to provide reliable data from their registration records. The CSE is requesting direction from the Town Council as to whether or not.they feel this is important.
