HomeMy WebLinkAboutVancouver2VailRecap_10 2010 Post-Event Recap Report TOV Commission on Special Events 1) EVENT OVERVIEW – ! • The event location was well planned providing the opportunity to reach a majority of people coming in and out of Vail Village • The event definitely created a good feeling of community, with high energy and support for the area Olympians • The coverage of the event on network television exposed Vail to hundreds of thousands of viewers • There was a strong relationship in place and it was very easy and enjoyable to work with Susie Tjossem and the Ski Museum • An estimated 2,000 ppl were exposed to the event each night with 20-100 ppl watching at any given time. • Although the event reached a strong amount of people, it would have been great to see them stick around for longer periods of time. Tough to hold a crowd in the cold. A very dynamic audience. • Because live coverage was not available through network television, the event had to follow regularly scheduled TV times • The event could have created more excitement had live coverage been available since in many cases, avid viewers already knew the outcome of the events. 2) EVENT BUDGET ! Did not implement. 5) EVENT SURVEY RESULTS – No formal survey was administered. a. Attendance Numbers and demographic profile: Estimated visitors exposed to the event – 8,000. 20-100 ppl in attendance at any given time. A very dynamic audience with high turnover. b. Visitor Intent to Return and Satisfaction Ratings: We expect that animation activities such as this event aid tremendously in the overall Vail guest experience and provide a high level of satisfaction which certainly favors intent to return. d. One-time event. 7) HOW DID THE EVENT IMPACT VAIL’S “SENSE OF COMMUNITY”? Very strong event to build community and allow residents to rally around the amazing Olympians in Vail. 8) HOW DID THE EVENT SHOW A COMMITMENT TO A SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT?
