Women’s Empowerment Workshop: Overview
The second annual Women's Empowerment Workshop, scheduled for Sept. 13-16, 2012 in Vail, Colorado
takes women on a nature adventure retreat to discover their limitless potential. Using all of the assets the
Vail community holds – the natural surroundings, and world class resort services, this event brings
women to Vail and offers a transformational experience that will motivate them to return again and again,
with friends and family.
Dynamic, varied and inspiring experiences in the natural world help women connect mind, body and spirit
in profoundly empowering ways. Renowned facilitators, world-class outfitters, and global women leaders
guide participants on pathways of self-discovery – through rafting, rock climbing, hiking and nature
photography, horses as natural healers, and daily yoga and meditation. Outdoor activities are specially
designed to help women embody their connection to all living things and learn how to tap into that
tremendous life force.
Life coaches lead women to their deepest questions and help them progress on their personal journey.
Women will learn energetic healing techniques, herbal therapy, emotional discernment tools and how to
use nature for grounding, self-awareness and confidence.
Global visionaries will speak to “Taking a Stand” and living our unlimited possibilities, while women
authors, spiritual consultants and life coaches are available for intimate conversations. In a nurturing,
supportive, exploratory environment, women of all ages and abilities will connect to their authentic being
and be propelled toward a more vital, deeply meaningful life.
By drawing on Vail’s stunning natural landscapes and recreation opportunities, and its community of
world class outfitters and guides, Women’s Empowerment Workshop delivers the highest quality and very
diverse experiences for all ability levels.
Event Package: Six nature adventures; 4 pre- and post-workshop webinars; women authors;
global visionary speakers; 2 life coaching seminars; one-on-one consultations; daily
yoga/meditation/swimming; delicious meals; wine tasting and social activities in Vail; network

Guided rock climbing is held in historic Camp Hale, where Vail’s founders first
experienced these mountains.

Benefits to the Town of Vail (see attachment C – Sponsor Report)
Reinforcing Vail’s position as leader in adventure tourism, innovative and integrated
wellness programs, and healthy lifestyle choices
Attracting women, and by extension, their families, to connect to the Vail experience in a
deeply meaningful way that results in return visits to the valley and increased loyalty to
Vail
Leveraging aligned national sponsors with the Vail product and experience
Inclusion in the workshop’s national marketing campaign which will result in 3.5 to 4
million impressions and includes but is not limited to:
o local and regional television, radio, newsprint;
o local, regional, national magazine print and web placements;
o world wide web advertising (Google ads); placement and direct links on two
websites, womenempower.us and vailwhattodo.info.
o social media marketing including FaceBook, LinkedIn, Twitter
o inclusion in direct promotion to proprietary list of targeted women – 6,000
o see attachment E for detailed marketing plan
Increased lodging in shoulder season: 2012 projections are for 90 - 100 room nights. In
2011, WEW brought 60 room nights to Vail, at an average of $120/night.
o 100% of participants stayed in the Town of Vail (even local participants)
o Lodging was booked through WEW and we worked directly with Vail Racquet
Club. This worked very well and we will do the same in 2012.
Increased spending by visitors in shoulder season. In 2011, WEW participants spent an
average of $750 to $1000 on lodging and shopping.
o Schedule changes for 2012 will allow more opportunity for free time in Vail and
increased return to the Town’s retail sector.
95% of participants indicated they would like to return to the workshop in 2012
Town of Vail Resources Required:
No Town resources beyond the $15,000 Presenter Level cash sponsorship are required
for this event. The workshop provides all volunteers needed.
Participants will use the Town bus system to explore Vail and enjoy dinner and evening
activities.
Budget:
See attachment C for 2012 Women’s Empowerment Workshop budget
WEW is requesting that CSE fund 19% of the expenses for the event. The remainder will
be generated through sponsorship sales and scholarship donations.
Funds given by the Town of Vail will go toward marketing expenses.
If this event is not partially funded by Town of Vail, WEW will pursue other cash sponsors
and the result of those efforts will determine whether the event is feasible or not for 2012.
In 2011, the founders invested more than $38,000 in cash and in-kind services to launch
the event. That will not be possible in 2012, so cash and in-kind sponsorships are
imperative. (see attachment G – 2011 Profit and Loss)
In 2012, WEW will seek a minimum of $50,000 in addition to the amount of cash
sponsorship dollars being requested of the Town of Vail.
We anticipate that the workshop itself will generate through participant tuition 53% of the
total expenses of the event.
See attachment D – 2012 WEW Budget
Future of Women’s Empowerment Workshop:
Women’s Empowerment Workshop is the vision of several local women who, combined, have more than
110 years of experience in marketing, public relations, event creation and promotion, outdoor group
facilitation and guiding experience. The vision was realized in 2011 and our goal is to fine-tune it and
grow it over the next five to 10 years, eventually expanding it to include a healthy living expo in
partnership with the many fine health and wellness providers in Vail and the entire valley. We can foresee
working with the Vail Valley Medical Center on this vision, as well as life coaches, personal trainers,
alternative healers and fitness experts.
Further, by supporting local entrepreneurs and businesswomen who have lived most of their lives in the
valley the Town can depend upon our personal investment to the success of the event, our emphasis on
giving back to the community and our integrity.
After proving the need and viability of this event in 2011, we hope that the Town of Vail will join us in
realizing a greater vision. That may mean supporting the event with sponsorship dollars for a year or two,
decreasing the investment as the event grows in stature and viability with national and local sponsors.
