VAIL’S OKTOBERFEST
NAME OF EVENT: Vail Oktoberfest
PROPOSED DATE(S): September 7 -9 & 14 -16, 2012
AMOUNT OF CASH FUNDING REQUESTED: $7,500

EVENT DESCRIPTION:
1) Brief description of event and its activities: Traditional Oktoberfest
Celebration - A Festival of Beer, Food, Music and Fall in Vail
2) Additional Funding Request Information: Taking place again in Lionshead
Village and Vail Village, this event caters to the Vail guest and destination visitor.
As one of the biggest consumer events in Vail, Highline is committed to further
enhancing the event by working with event partners to cre ate a festive venue while
maintaining the high quality standards of Vail. There are a variety of enhancements
that will be made for this year but the below is a set of additional opportunities to
add to the authentic atmosphere at the event the event .
a. In crease the children’s activities
i. Increase the children’s activities and entertainers. Opportunities
include:
1. Include a b alloon man, magician , story tellers puppet theatre
2. Add a themed kids Oktoberfest/Bavarian dress up photo
station
3. Bolster a children’s crafts area with chicken hat making
4. Add a kids alpenhorn playing area and
ii. Add additional options to the children’s area
1. Snow c one v endor near the children’s area
2. Bounce house
iii. Increased staffing
b. Enhance look and feel of venue
i. Add more pageantry and theming to the event venue with better
and more authentic décor. Elements to add or improve upon are :
1. Increased themed signage and décor
2. T raditional Bavarian dress for staff and volunteers, and a few
larger elemen ts that bring Bavar ia to Vail
