HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012 Season of Song FeedbackYear One Thanks! Great job on your first venture. I really think you are on to something. I loved the intimacy the performers had with audience members. M.W. Edwards, CO The variety was great and unique. Very intimate. Thanks and great 1st year. D.S. Edwards, CO I loved the small shows on the lawn w/ music and chatting with attendees . I made some great contacts. S.D. Boulder, CO We really liked the meet and greet at the beginning, it was Patrick and my anniversary and it felt very personal, and the drink tickets and hors d'oeuvres as well as the beautiful atmosphere made everything really special and romantic. My best memories of Vail are skiing and Season of Song! J.M. Lakewood, CO I most enjoyed seeing Jack Tempchin at VIP reception at The Manor Vail. I also really enjoyed Writers in the Round tribute to Garth Brooks. Also, Beth Nielsen Chapman and David Wilcox. My motivation to return to Vail is ski season and Season of Song 2013. Best memory of Vail is the beauty and great music. We enjoyed! Thanks! D.W. Glenwood Springs, CO We loved seeing the songwriters who made famous the songs we have so greatly enjoyed listening to over the years! It was wonderful to hear their own renditions of their songs. R.S. Gypsum, CO Impressed with the top quality artists you booked. T.R. Vail, CO I loved Beth Nielsen Chapman and David Wilcox. Looking forward to next year. S.M. Warwick, RI I most enjoyed the mini-concerts at Manor Vail (getting up close and hearing about how the songs are created and the stories behind them was FABULOUS!) Frankly, I loved it all! L.D. from Vail I came from Denver specifically to see David Wilcox... I really enjoyed myself and found the setting beautiful. I felt lucky that the Garth Brooks Bluebird folks happened to perform the same day, because all of the story telling gave new dimensions to music I've loved for a long time. I will return next year; please bring back David Wilcox:) J.W. Denver Co Fantastic venue, great music. Loved the variety of music and of course the familiarity of the songs that reach back to my youth. Loved the time of year that this concert took place. To view the aspens in all their fall color on the mountain while listening to wonderful music make this such a good setting. Loved the casual atmosphere; loved the opportunity to buy cd's. Mark D. Sanders was terrific! My best memory is the music concert and the gorgeous fall color. I will definitely visit Vail again in the fall and the winter . C.C. Santa Barbara, CA The concept of the musician choice was brilliant. Continue with the same "themed" idea. I particularly liked the subtlety- not another "aging casino tour" musician. M.L. Santa Fe, NM I loved the stories behind the songs and then the songwriters singing their songs. Loved the venue, can't beat Ford Amphitheater. I would watch EVERY ONE of the songwriters you had this year AGAIN, I'm sure they just touched upon their stories but I would welcome new songwriters too. I'm not as familiar with the songwriters as the songs so that's why this was so exciting. Surprise me! I'll be there next year!!! L.E. Stilwell, KS. We enjoyed the Ford Amphitheater (we had never been there before) & the quality of the musicians/songwriters (we attended Saturday) The fact that there were "heavy-hitters" in the music industry & had written memorable songs was a draw for us. J.C. Cumming, GA. Going to try to return to the area every year, and we hope to catch a show at the amphitheater!!!. Best memory is the heart felt, rhythmic, and transcendental music of Elephant Revival that we heard amongst such an eclectic crowd and serene setting. Thanks again for giving us such a special memory during our wedding weekend!!!! R.V. Tulsa, OK Golden leaves and golden nuggets of breathtaking voices and poems on stage at Vail! What a genuinely amazing experience, thank you all so much! Gigi Salzmann To everyone who was a part of Season of Song, it was a joy throughout. Honestly some of the greatest performances I have ever seen in my life. Magnificent weather and autumn scenery, great songs, wonderful friendships and much laughter. Thank you so much Morris, for making this come true. I so look forward to next year. Michael Tomlinson Thank you so much for offering a new event in Vail. I loved all the sessions and hope to see you again next year! I will bring friends!!!! I've attended other music events in Vail, both Bravo and free rock concerts but this was the most inspirational, informative, enjoyable and a great variety of music. I LOVED hearing the stories behind the songs. Lillian Edwards Hi Morris, I wanted to congratulate you on your inaugural year of the Season of Song Festival. The amount of positive feedback and response we received to the event; to the concept; to the idea;... was amazing! You are to be commended for your long term vision and passion for such an endeavor and your ability to look beyond the short term challenges that saddle any annual event's initial year. I remember well, the early struggles of the Vail International Dance Festival, and when the orchestra members out-numbered the guests at the beginning of the Bravo Vail Valley Music Festival, both of which are now extremely popular mainstays of the Vail cultural and entertainment scene. In the years to come, I can envision the Season of Song Festival taking its place along side those now iconic institutions and as the not-to-be-missed Autumn event in Vail. I applaud your contagious optimism and unwavering professionalism throughout the duration of this inaugural event. I wish you continued success and very much look forward to working with you again next year and the many years thereafter, as this Festival continues to grow . All the best, Rick Edward Richards, Vail Myriad Inc. Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater Vail, CO Facebook Page Comments & Letters of Congratulations Dear Sirs: I am a Vail valley local, and see all kinds of live music here. I take full advantage of the wonderful VVF free shows all year, as well as being a volunteer for the VPAC. This past September I was lucky enough to attend Season of Song, at a couple of different venues in Vail. I discovered the festival while reading the Vail Daily. I was so excited to see such amazing talent coming to town. I attended all three evening performances. All were exquisite! The music, venue, and brilliant fall colors combined to create an unforgettable experience. Everyone in attendance felt the same way, I'm sure! I also attended one of the intimate afternoon performances. What a wonderful jewel of a show! Wine, beer and appetizers topped it off. Folks were able to chat with the performers, and we really got a sense of who they are, and what drives them. I loved it! In addition, after an evening performance, I strolled over to Manor Vail for an apres performance. What a fantastic way to cap off a stellar evening of music…with more music! I hope to see this again in the coming years, and I'm positive the valley will embrace "Season of Song" as one of the best festivals of the year. Best regards, LeeAnn Marshall
