Hi Sybill,
The following information is from our third-party research in 2011, conducted by Intercept Insights and
should be shared:
- 82% of Vail Restaurant Month attendees were first time visitors to Vail
- 57% increase in first time visitors to Vail vs. 2010
- 40% of the attendees stayed in paid lodging AND 94% stayed in Vail which was an increase of 32%
vs. 2010
- 8,000 attendees at the special Vail Restaurant Month Farmers Market on Sunday September 25,
2011
- Total VRM 2011 attendance based on our third-party research study: 78,000 attendees who came
to Vail during the four weeks in whole or in part because of Vail Restaurant Month.
(Please note: The total number of visitors who came to Vail and at some point interacted with or
attended VRM events/activities once in Vail was a much larger number. This data is an estimation
based on confidential numbers from a valid sample of participating restaurants and hotels.)
Celebrity chefs - preliminary research from I Openers.
I Openers has contacted agents and culinary event experts - basic findings:
1) A-list celebrityy chefs fees range from $25,000 - $100,000 per appearance.
2) All luxury expenses must be paid for by the host event or town, including first class air,
transportation, lodging, dining, activities, etc.
3) Personal relationships may reduce fees, but this is generally not the case with A-list celebrity
chefs.
4) Scheduling and contract for A-list chefs must happen far in advance of the event.

Hi Ilene and Greg,
Sorry for the delay here- it’s been a wild and crazy week! I’m reviewing overall event attendance for the TOV’s community
meeting on the 13th and am wondering if you have a full event attendance estimate for Vail Restaurant Month? The only
figure I attendance number I can find in the report is the 8000 attendees at the Harvest to Table Farmers’ Market. If you
can come up with an estimate for the total event, I’d be grateful!
