Standard of excellence met by:
•Showcasing the Vail Whitewater Park
•Providing an additional spectator event in Vail Village, while offering the
community of boaters a time a place to utilize the whitewater park’s
inflatable bladder technology.
Event Strengths & Weaknesses
4 Town of Vail | CSE | 12/15/11
•Exceeded expectations: Alpine Kayak was still able to run the event
despite historical low water levels.
•Measures that could be taken for event improvement: Improved
contact with Vail concierges and front desk staff to increase visibility
at the event.
•For repeat event, comparison to past years: We saw a decrease in
participants this year due to low flows on Gore Creek. Nice weather
provided an increase in spectators. The low flows also allowed us to
showcase some standup paddleboarding in the park.
