Cole Roofing took down Gang Green by one goal in the women's division. On the men's side, Maverik Elite took down Merrill Lynch by six goals after a brief lightning delay. Men's Elite Championship Maverik Elite 16, Merrill Lynch 10 The shootout came to a culmination in an even match between Maverik Elite and Merrill Lynch. Both teams went goal for goal for almost the entire first half, including an impressive longpole goal from Merrill Lynch 's Goren Murray. Despite lightning and nature conspiring against us, the second half of the game showed Maverik Elite pulling ahead with an impressive shooting display from a deeply talented offensive squad that included Comell's Rob Pannell, who returned to the field after the foot injury that kept him out for most of the 2012 college season. The all-tournament team was named, as well as the US Lacrosse Keeper of Lacrosse award, and the 40th annual Vail Men's Elite came to an impressive close. 3rd Place Game Rocky Mountain Oysters 14, Brine Elite 13 In what initially seemed to be a Brine-dominated game, Rocky Mountain Oysters stepped in up in the second half and took the win. Consolation Championship Team One's Jammin' Salmon 18, Balance Bar 12 Jammin' Salmon defeated Balance Bar in a relaxed, steady-paced Consolation Championship game. New Champs Crowned at 40th Vail Shootout - Lacrosse Magazine Page 3 of 6 The Championship game ended in a back and forth battle with both goalies, each came up with key saves to keep their teams within reach of the title. Cole Roofing was able to tie the game with 3:48 left on a goal by Courtney Abum Then with 1:22 left Cole Roofing scored the winning goal on a clutch shot from Sally Roberts. Cole Roofing secured the last draw and was able to run out the clock to secure the win the game 13-12. In an incredibly impressive display Cole Roofing was playing with a player down after an injury late in the 2nd half. Aly Josephs led the way for Gang Green with four points on two goals and two assists. Annie Lebovitez chipped in with three points on two goals and an assist; Ashley Heist finished with 12 saves. For Cole Roofing, Sally Roberts scored a goal and added five assist. It was a competitive game with both teams proving why they were the best in the field of 15 teams. Gang Green, the reigning champion, went into the Championship Game under the leadership of Aly Josephs, and Ashley Heist. Cole Roofing, also coming in undefeated, were led by Morgan Kelly and Sally Roberts.
