Entry Fee: A $5 entry fee will be collected from each participant.
Marketing: Two additional sandwich boards will be used. One at the Covered Bridge,
one at the grass beach by the Whitewater Park.
Additional Information:
Registration: There will be a registration tent on the grass area in front of Up the Creek.
Participants will be required to sign a waiver and pay their entry fee. Racers will be
assigned a number for that day of competition.
Safety: All safety will be provide by AK staff that is trained in Swiftwater Rescue. All
participants on each race day will be required to attend a safety meeting/talk before the
race begins.
Down River Race/Ring Your Bell: Two safety kayakers will be in the water during the
race. One will be at the middle of the course and one at the finish. Throw bags will be on
hand at the finish line.
Best Trick: A safety kayaker will be available and throw bags on the side of river.
Running the Races:
AK Staff will set up 1 hour before the race.
Down River Race: Racers will start at the Covered Bridge. A member of the event staff
will begin the race with a whistle at 5:30. Racers will go down stream to the buoys
located before the whitewater park, around both and then race to the finish line at the
International Bridge. There will be heats of racers and the winners of each heat will
compete in a final heat.
Best Trick: This competition will be located at the hole. Each competitor will get 1
minute. Each competitor will get two chances to compete. Judges will score on
difficulty of trick, amplitude and execution.
Ring Your Bell Race: Competitors will begin at the Covered Bridge. Competitors will
ring a bell at 4 bouys and then race to the finish line. If a competitor misses a bell they
will be disqualified. There will be heats of racers and the winners of each heat will
compete in a final heat.
