HomeMy WebLinkAbout2.King of the Mtn Update 5-1King of the Mountain – Enhancement Objectives/Strategies Objective: Leverage existing KOM event to accomplish several key results: 1) Draw greater overnight visitation from non-volleyball players 2) Generate greater community and in-town visibility 3) Increase and amplify Vail brand alignment 4) Set stage for future growth Strategies: 1) Secure involvement of marquee name Volleyball personalities 2) Build out in-village activation in order to attract passers-by 3) Create partnership with AVP and expand local producer partnership 4) Leverage VLMDAC marketing efforts (FR/web/digital domain) 1 Town of Vail | 5/1/13 King of the Mountain – Pro Athletes Status Secured Athletes 1 – Kerry Walsh – three time Olympic gold medalist ($15k talent fee) 2 – Angie Akers – Ex AVP professional and world volleyball rookie of the year 3 – Dax Holdren – Ex AVP professional, 2008 Olympian Potential Athletes 1 – Ed Ratledge – Ex AVP professional 2 Town of Vail | 5/1/13 King of the Mountain – Concept Vail King of the Mountain - featuring - Volleyball Legends Special guests 3 Town of Vail | 5/1/13 King of the Mountain – Enhancement Plan •Center sand court at East end of Athletic fields will be activated - bleacher seating - Event/TOV/AVP signage - PA announcing - Music •Demonstration games, children’s clinic participation, crowd sourcing games or points •Village activation - Solaris Plaza tented booth (approx. 20 x 20) - Meet and greet with athletes - Event scheduling and promotion - Schwag; Wilson volleyballs, literature, video, photos - Autographs - timing/scheduling tbd •Marketing leverage; VLMDAC; DP, web, video, TV 4 Town of Vail | 5/1/13 King of the Mountain – Cost Summary •Kerry Walsh - $15,000 talent fee (previously allocated and budgeted) - transportation and lodging •Angie Akers - transportation and lodging •AVP Management: Donald Sun , AVP Owner; Monica Lee, AVP Ops Manager - transportation and lodging •All lodging to be secured via trade/sponsorship recognition •Ground transport via CME trade/sponsorship recognition •Air transport; via DIA; $300 vouchers via EGE Alliance ~ $3000 exposure 5 Town of Vail | 5/1/13
