1. Detailed description of the event and its activities. If the event will have a culinary

The FIS Alpine NorAm Cup is gateway to World Cup, where athletes like Lindsey
Vonn, Bode Miller, Ted Ligety and Julia Mancuso challenge the best ski racers in
from across the globe. Classified by the International Ski Federation (FIS) as a
Continental Cup, its European counterpart is the Europa Cup. A limited quota for
each country qualifies athletes to participate in the NorAm Cup races each season.
Discipline and overall winners from the winter -long series earn a coveted World Cup
start next year for their efforts.
Ski and Snowboard Club Vail is proud to host 2 Giant Slaloms and 2 Slaloms on
Golden Peak for approximately 140 men and 100 women December 15 -20, 2013
This is the most important Alpine race held on Vail Mt. since the 1999 World
Championships.

Golden Peak.

60 + coaches
• Number of volunteers needed - 25 per day minimum

7. Description of potential benefits to the Town of Vail, including an estimated # of
incremental room nights and increased spending generated. What return on
investment (ROI) should the Town of Vail expect? Most of the athletes will be staying
in the Town of Vail and will shop and dine locally.
➢ BUDGET:
1. Please attach a complete and detailed event budget, including anticipated
revenues and expenses.
2. What % of the total event budget is the CSE being asked to fund? 4%
3. Describe briefly how you will use the funds that you are requesting from the CSE.
— To support the athletes and help off set the costs to hosting the event. The
athletes /team extremely appreciate SSCV not charging for fee /tickets.
4. Should the CSE decide not to support this event, will it still occur? Yes.
5. What is the $ amount of sponsorships from alternative sources reflected in the
event budget? $17,000- We have not yet confirmed all sponsorships.
6. What % of the total event budget do you expect the event itself to generate? (i.e.
ticket sales, merchandise, food and alcohol sales, etc.) We do not generate any
income from this event. We do not charge entry fee or ticket costs to the athletes.
This benefits the athletes /teams due the large costs athletes incur during a season
of ski racing.
7. If possible, would you intend to host the event in Vail beyond 2013? If yes, for how
many years beyond 2013? We plan to host this event next year. We hope to have
this event annually.
8. Do you anticipate requesting funding from the CSE next year? If yes, given that
the CSE encourages the development of additional sponsors in order to leverage
their own investments, and anticipates that as events become established they will
become less reliant on public funds, please explain how you intend to grow the event
and indicate what %, if any, of the total event budget you anticipate requesting next
year. Yes. 4 %.

LODGING /MEAL PACKAGE: Rooms at Manor Vail Lodge are available for racers. Rate is $300 /night plus tax and
resort service fee and based on triple occupancy also includes breakfast. A few 2 bedroom condos are available at $600 /night
plus tax and resort service fee and based on 6 in a room - also includes breakfast. Complimentary ski storage and tuning
facilities available for athletes staying at MV. Reservations can be made at 1 -800- 950 -8245 or by email at

Ligety and Julia Mancuso challenge the best ski racers from across the globe. Classified by the International Ski Federation
(FIS) as a Continental Cup, its European counterpart is the Europa Cup. A limited quota for each country qualifies athletes to
participate in the NorAm Cup races each season. Discipline and overall winners from the winter -long series earn a coveted
World Cup start next year for their efforts.
The series consists of 28 contests: 4 Downhills, 6 Super G's, 8 Giant Slaloms, 8 Slaloms, and 2 Super Combined's hosted by ski
resorts in the United States and Canada. This year the teams kicked off the series in Colorado at Loveland, Aspen and Copper
Mt. Then they travelled to Canada where Panorama, British Columbia hosted the next set of races. The athletes return to the
U.S. in February to race at Vail. Their final leg for the men goes north to British Columbia and Alberta, Canada to compete at
Apex and Nakiska, and the ladies finish up in California at Squaw Valley and Sugar Bowl.
U.S. athletes in 2012 won over half the NorAm titles. As an important step in theirjoumey to the World Cup, World
Championships, and Olympics, notable past Overall Title winners include Thomas Biesemeyer (2011), Leanne Smith and
Andrew Weibrecht (2007), Megan Mclames (2006) and Jake Zamanski (2006), Stacey Cook (2004), Marco Sullivan (2001) and
Jake Fiala (2000). Discipline titles winners include, Ryan Cochran- Seigle of the famed ski racing Cochran family (SG 2011,
Overall, DH and SG, 2012), Ski and Snowboard Club Vail members Will Gregorak (GS 2011) and Julia Littman (DH 2006),
three -time World Cup GS titlist and Olympic Champion Ted Ligety (Slalom 2004), World and Olympic Champion Julia
Mancuso (Slalom 2002, GS 2000), and Olympic Gold Medalist Picabo Street (DH 2001).
