Standard of excellence met by:
•Providing a unique mountain experience with an evening snowshoe
from the base of Lionshead mountain. Guest feedback was extremely
positive.
•The event benefits the VVCF, which in turn helps those members of
our community that are struggling financially due to a medical crisis.

Event Strengths & Weaknesses
5 Town of Vail | CSE | 5/7/2014
•Strengths: We provided a unique Valentine’s experience. Outdoor
snowshoe with complimentary snowshoes, champagne and boxed lunch.
We had a successful silent auction of 15 items, a good number and variety.
• Challenges: We were hoping for 175-200 participants. We ended up having
75 people. The people that participated loved the event and the opportunity
to do something different on Valentine’s Day. It was a decent number, but
below expectations.
•The intent was to have a full moon snowshoe. That evening we had a
weird storm; rain, sleet and not a star in the sky. I do think the weather
negatively impacted our event.
•There was some input from our sponsor at Vail Sports that having an
event on Valentine’s day was not the best date. Restaurants were full,
there were certainly a lot of people in town.
Event Strengths & Weaknesses (continued)

Measures that could be taken for event improvement:
•Pick a date with a full moon, weekend around Valentine’s day, perhaps
not on 2/14.
•Need to work around The World Championships.
•This was the first annual for the event, we do expect to have the event
again.

Thank you!
14 Town of Vail | CSE | 5/7/2014
Thank you Town of Vail for your support! While this event may not
have generated new business in town, it was a great example of
outdoor recreation and experiencing our town and what we have to
offer.
Additionally the funds that were raised enable the VVCF to help those
in our community that are in financial distress due to a medical crisis.
Our community and how we care for others is one of our very best
assets. Thank you for exhibiting your care in funding this event.
