ATTENTION VAIL SUBSCRIBERS:
INTRODUCING THE NEW EVENT CALENDAR OVERLAY REPORT
Beginning with Vail’s recently-published Daily Occupancy Report (DOR), we’re excited to roll out a new product: Introducing the new Event Calendar Overlay Report.
This report is an evolution of one that we've produced in the past. It is an interactive overlay of all Town of Vail calendar events for the current and prior years, as well as
all holidays that DestiMetrics follows. Here’s how it works:
1. Open the Daily Occupancy Report
2. On the 6-month chart (chart #1), underneath the horizontal (x) axis, you’ll see a series of markers. Each marker denotes one or more events.
3. Run your mouse over an event marker to display the event name and dates. The event will either be current or prior year. All events for that day will be listed.
4. Run your mouse over an occupancy value on the chart above to see the Events AND the corresponding occupancy data for that date
5. Use the vertical line to align event markers with occupancy data on the chart above.
6. Use the Tooltip button in the top right-hand corner of the chart to turn off the mouseover feature for the occupancy data. Event mouseover features will remain active.
7. Use the Export Events button in the top right-hand corner of the chart to create a download .csv file of all events on the calendar for your further analysis / manipulation. Use your browser’s download features for the download process
8. Here is a description of the event types:
a. Current Year Destination Events:
i. Events from the Town of Vail Calendar in 2016
ii. Denoted by a red circle
b. Prior Year Destination Events:
i. Events from the Town of Vail Calendar in 2015
ii. Denoted by a brown square
c. Current Year System Events:
i. Global events (usually holidays) in 2016
ii. Denoted by a red triangle
d. Prior Year System Events:
i. Global events (usually holidays) in 2015
ii. Denoted by a brown diamond
We hope you’ll agree that this is a great collaborative effort by the Town of Vail and DestiMetrics to provide insight into the impact of destination events and
holidays on year-over-year booking patterns.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us so we can address any issues before they become problems.
Regards,
Tom Foley
