Events of 2017
December 16th: The Vail Holiday Sweater Run. We had 50 runners and
foresee this an ongoing event.
December 16th -17th: The Kris Kringle Market. We had 34 vendors in
Vail, from 11 am- 3:30 pm.
After Thanksgiving we visited local schools, libraries and concierges
and dropped off flyers of the calendar and the Art in Public Places
Lantern Walk.
December 17th: Vail Tree Lighting and Cookie Decorating 2:30-6:00
This time frame included ice skating and enjoyment of the ice
sculpture display at Slifer Square. The Tree lighting was a kick off to the
holiday weekend.
December 31st: Torchlight Parade and Fireworks 6:15 pm and 12:00
The festivities within Vail gave the visiting guests and locals a chance to

Demographic of Participants
Susan Mitchell created the logo for Vail Holidays. The official name change
occurred and the logo was evaluated during meetings from April 2017- September
2017. This process ensured a seamless fit with the Vail Brand. Both logos were
approved by Town and Vail Resorts.

Strengths
• Vail Holidays had a huge show of support from the guests
of Vail. We began with the Vail Holiday Sweater Run and
the Kris Kringle Market. The tree lighting occurred just as
guests were arriving in town.
• Art in Public Places had a lot of participation for the
Lantern Walk and it gave guests activities to participate in
around Vail.
• The Vail Library had events leading up to and after the
holiday season.
• Ren Events feels that we had a huge draw for the Holiday
Sweater Run, the Kris Kringle Market, the tree lighting,
and the fireworks. The lantern walk has given another
community guest experience.
• The Ice sculpture in front of the tree is a huge draw and
we will continue this.

Strengths
• The Vail/Eagle Children’s Chorale sang and brought many local visitors into town. Battle
Mountain High School Jazz Choir added to the festive night.
• Cookie decorating brought people into the plazas in both Lionshead and Vail. We
decorated over 1200 cookies.
• The Tree Lighting had a huge crowd, estimated to be 1500 at the peak time.
• The Fireworks and torchlight ski down were a truly amazing wrap to 2017 for the Town
of Vail and Vail Resorts.

Weaknesses/Changes for 2017
• Working with the town and utilizing their expertise has
been effective.
• We found, we needed to rely on a a graphic group to
ensure all due dates were met.
• We will work closely with town and will continue with
advertising, and marketing for 2018. We have had an
approval process and for 2018 we will ask that all materials
will need to follow a sign off process with all entities
involved.
• The Kris Kringle Market worked well and had a smooth
flow for two days. It was a draw for guests and locals.
• We are encouraged for Art In Public places, as they seem
to have the entire lantern walk in control. We will plan to
endorse them in the future.

• Attendance Numbers : 1,500 based on space, size and attendance from previous years.
• Lodging: We spoke with all the lodges prior to event. This year the lodges were at 50-80% capacity during the Vail Holidays week.
• We estimate that we brought in 3,500 people to Vail on Saturday and Sunday for the Kris Kringle Market. The guests came, explored the town and stayed in Vail. This year, due to the lack of snow, the guests were looking for something to do, and we were able to provide them with a myriad of
options.
• Ren Event Productions kept people in Vail entertained during the Holiday season. There is room for growth, based on need for events in Vail for the holiday season. The Kris Kringle market is unique, as is the Holiday Sweater
Run. We feel as long as done on a needed weekend, it will not impede the holiday season for stores.
• Marketing for Holidays:
– We worked with all concierges in town to inform them of all town events. We created postcards, a one page info sheet and ensured they had the Lantern Parade Flyer.
– We had 2-3 weekly ads in Vail Daily and Weekly throughout the Holiday Season.
– We had ads on KZYR, 104.7 and Frisco Radio.
– Social Media Grew by 100% this year.
– Vail Holidays Press Release went out to local, state and national outlets beginning in October.
– Vail.com, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook were great promoters for this year. We will continue to grow this presence.
The event was 100% compostable.
We included the Vail community and we were invested in having them as a part of the event.
