Ernest,
I was looking over the agenda for the CSE meeting on March 1 and noticed that there is $10,000 of
funding that hasn’t been allocated. I understand that we have already gone through the process of
requesting funds for the GoPro Mountain Games but I was wondering if there was a way for us to
be reconsidered for this allocation.
As you remember, we had formally requested $100K in funding for this year which would have put
us on schedule to decrease our funding request by $5,000 per year since we acquired the Mountain
Games maintaining the primary CSE funding objective of decreasing an events dependency on TOV
monies. We received $130,000 our first year in 2009. We are extremely grateful that the CSE
granted the Mountain Games $90,000 this year. The additional $10,000 would not only keep us on
track with the decreased funding year over year, but it would allow us to fund our efforts to align
with the town’s environmental and sustainability goals. This money would specifically be earmarked
for contracting the services of Walking Mountains and their support staff to help with our waste
management and waste diversion efforts. We received a quote from Walking Mountains of $6,547
for their specific services. We would also utilize the funds to supplement the purchase of additional
trash/recycling/composting materials for the event.
Thank you very much for the consideration of the additional funding for the GoPro Mountain Games.
Warmest Regards,
Mac Garnsey
