FY18 EVENT STRATEGY
•Snow Days : December 15-17, 2017
The signature kick-off event to the season, welcoming free live music, wellness
and transformation opportunities, family-friendly happenings, a sponsor expo
village and more.
•Spring String Series: March/April, 2018
In a spirit of re-imagination, Spring Back to Vail will become Spring String
Series, where destination guests can enjoy 2 weekends of music (budget
pending) during the spring break time frame instead of one weekend in late
April, which has typically catered to a much younger demographic, and mostly a
local and Front Range audience.
FY18 VAIL MOUNTAIN SIGNATURE EVENTS
•Skadi Vail Women’s Ski Fest: January 13-14, 2018
Inspired by the Norse goddess of winter, Vail will host the 3rd annual Skadi Vail.
The shift to MLK weekend is to move from off-peak mid -week to peak weekend,
driving visitation from females from all over the world. Female skiers and riders
will be treated to on -mountain guided experiences, the largest female-specific
demo in the country, and wine and cheese.
•Burton US Open Championships: March 5-10, 2018
The 2018 Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships return to Vail,
welcoming the best snowboarders in the world to compete for the prestigious
Halfpipe and Slopestyle Titles. The action continues off the snow from Tuesday
onwards with a sponsor village, nightly concerts, and broomball.

•Branding/Name Update:
Snow Days, which better aligns with Vail brand and caters to a wider
demographic
•Date changes: December 15-17, 2017
Shifting dates from the 2nd weekend to the 3rd weekend in December allows us
the opportunity to drive overnight paid destination visitation as it is the start to
many school breaks
•Additional schedule elements:
Family Skate ‘n S’mores, Yoga, RRR Rewards, Guided Snowshoe Tour event
•Venue:
Solaris on Friday, Golden Peak or Ford Park on Saturday (as to not interfere
with the Kris Kringle Market)
•Vail Holidays co-promotion and collaboration
