Town of Vail: CSE
Karah Maloley now hosts the Community Leadership Academy (CLA)
programs that include CLA 200: Critical Thinking and CLA 100:
Leadership Foundations. The CLA is an experience for professionals
looking to enhance their leadership capabilities and connect with like-minded
professionals within Eagle County.
Competencies learned during the program:
>Sharpen your skills and strengthen your character
>Gain increased insight into your core values
>Build trust with those whom you depend on
>Explore integrity by examining your beliefs and values system
>Differentiate between ethics and morality
>Discover the interactivity between listening and feedback
The current CLA 100 course began on January 31, 2019. Eight Town of Vail employees
are taking the course. The current CLA 200 has two members that are employed in Vail.
One is a Town of Vail employee.
For the CLA 100 programs, Karah is requesting to use the Grand View facilities in Vail
for the sessions. Courses are held on the last Thursday of each week. The second
session would be scheduled on the last Wednesday of the month.
Facilities use would be:
1.Graduation for first CLA 100 in July 25, 2019 - 1 session.
2.Use of the Grand View for second CLA 100 starting in June 2019 and ending in
December 2019 - 7 sessions.
a.Parking passes for 40 people for the graduation session in December.
For the second CLA 100 starting in June, eight Town of Vail employees can be granted
in-kind access to the 7 sessions (equates to $5200).

In fall of 2018, two classes from The University of Colorado’s Leeds
School of Business held a Leadership Retreat to unpack and apply
principle-centered leadership through interactive, exploratory and
experiential activities. This was led by the Vail Centre, and Karah
Maloley was the facilitator. Two different group were taken out of the Boulder classroom
to advance personal awareness of their leadership capacities.
Each group stayed for a weekend in the Town of Vail and activities were located in the
hotel conference spaces and on the mountain in Vail.
Retreat Programming Goals included:
●Provide a learning mentality that is connected to core values.
●Develop a platform for exchange and collaboration.
●Build an inclusive pipeline with ethics-based and integrity-driven leaders.
●Shape leaders who take initiative, act decisively, and effectively communicate
vision to others.
●Developing your purpose.
This work is now under Karah Maloley brand called Mastermind:U. Karah is working
with the Leeds School of Business professors to host retreats this fall.
Mastermind: U would like to facilitates the groups at the Grand View in September
2018. These session would happen on the Saturday during two weekends.
