component??
Gold Dust Dance Project is committed to offering high quality, well rounded dance education to youth of all ages.
The belief is that dance lessons are life lessons. The Mountain Art collective intends to enlighten the community to
the possibilities the Arts can provide and, specifically to this program, to do so in the process of local artist sharing
time and knowledge with local children.
This camp supports multiple Vail initiatives: education in the performing arts, community involvement and health
and wellness for youth. Students will gather to learn, meet new friends and share their hard work and talents with
the community. The Mountain Art Collective is also at at the forefront of building the Vail brand by establishing a
true center for the arts in the Town of Vail. This specific event serves as an introduction of the mission and
programming we intend to provide to the community in perpetuity.
America Days Dance Camp will encompass a 4 day dance experience for students ages 7-14 culminating in a
performance for the America Days Parade. Daily dance classes will take place at the Mountain Art Collective dance
studio and include the instruction and choreography of a marching dance routine. The dance routine will be
accompanied by a float designed by participants in the Mountain Art Collective's communal 'art in motion' project.
6 Students, ranging from 15 to 18 and actively involved in the arts, will have the opportunity to design and create
the float while receiving hands-on instruction and guidance from 3 local artists in the Vail Valley. Students will have the ability to ride in the parade along with their creation. The idea is to build something as a community that
represents the desire of many locals for a stronger position for local art and the humans that create it. The
Mountain Art Collective is activly working towards the concentration and elevation of local artists(and future ones)
by creating a communal node for the Arts in Cascade Village. Dance classes and float building will take place at the
MAC facility which is located in the old CMC building's original dance and art studios. We are seeking scholarships
for 10 of 30 dance spots and sponsorship of 3 local artists to assist 6 students in the creation of the 'art in motion'
parade float.

5. Potential: How will the event or program provide opportunities for
intellectual dialogues and problem solving?
6. How will the event or program enhance Leadership Skills: locally,
nationally and internationally?
7. Producer Qualifications: Explain the event producer’s quality, knowledge
and resources to sustain and grow the event.
With regard to the dance portion, moving in unison with others is an opportunity to feel something bigger than oneself. When dancing together, each individual dancer is responsible for her/his own actions to perform the
choreography, while also relying on the group to execute as a whole. This builds relationship which lays the
groundwork for dialogue. With regard to the creation of a float, we feel the same thing is demonstrated in the
design and build of a moving piece of art as a community. We will need to communicate, collaborate and come to a
decision as a team as to the greater idea and how we intend to get there. We believe there is an immense sense of
joy attached to having a part in the creation of something collectively that is greater than what could be
accomplished by the individual.
We intend to involve the community in this project from the very beginning. A project such as this will serve as a
magnet to members of the art community willing to step up and take charge of the creation of something that represents not only their commitment to the proliferation of the arts, but also to the community they have the
opportunity to lead in a possitive direction.
Furthermore, dance teaches self-discipline and teamwork which are necessary qualities for any leader. The Gold
Dust Dance Project believes in building kids up; successful leaders are those who understand their self worth and
are shown love and compassion consistently through both successes and failures.
The Mountain Art Collective represents an ever-growing 'collection' of local artist, founded by Townsend Bessent and
Robert Precthl, that continue to strive to make the Vail Valley their home. We both run successful mutlimedia companies and have resided in the Valley for over a decade. Although we believe that we possess the qualifications
and knowledge to run such an event, we find power and strength in enlisting the help of the very community we
have made our home. Our desire is to provide the space and the recourses to let everyone find their inner creativity
and purpose through fortifying relationships with the Arts, and with each other as a Mountain Art community....or
collective, if you will :)
Our Partner, Gold Dust Dance Project, was founded in 2018 by Corinne Mickler, a local dance teacher who has
instructed for 6 years in the Vail Valley. Corinne is a lifetime dancer and passionate teacher. In its first year, Gold
Dust Dance Project has reached over 85 students and currently runs 9 waitlisted weekly classes. 2019 will be the
third summer hosting successful summer dance camps that are both fun and educational.
