1. Event Description:
a. Detailed description of the event and its activities. Where will the event be
located within the Town of Vail?
2. Brand Fit: How does the event support or build the Vail Brand?
3. If you’ve already received funding from the CSE for 2019 please explain
how these additional funds will be utilized?
4. Potential: How will the event or program deliver and educational
component??
I propose for the event to take place at the newly renovated Red Sandstone Elementary school –
either in the library or gymnasium.
Eat Chat Parent is a free mental health series and it fits the Vail Brand because it offers educational
information about positive behavioral health for families. We emphasize pro social behaviors and
attempt to guide families away from risk factors and negative behavior patterns. We are a resource
for local families who are looking to solve problems, address tough issues, or just stay informed of
important issues they might face at some point in their life.
We will be able to enhance the event by purchasing a brand new documentary created by IndieFlix
Productions.
The documentary will cover a mental health topic (TBA). They offer amazing one hour films on the
following topics: anxiety, bullying, social media or technology overuse. I would like to coordinate
with Red Sandstone administration to see which topic is most important to them. In keeping with
the Town of Vail mental health priorities, I think any of these topics will help your efforts. We could
also partner with the Town of Vail police One Mind campaign and help promote your new mental
health inititiative as well.

5. Potential: How will the event or program provide opportunities for
intellectual dialogues and problem solving?
6. How will the event or program enhance Leadership Skills: locally,
nationally and internationally?
7. Producer Qualifications: Explain the event producer’s quality, knowledge
and resources to sustain and grow the event.
The event offers leaders, or anyone willing to share their personal experience, in the Town of Vail
to be on the expert panel. It also offers a chance to bring in a national or international speaker to
contribute to the conversation. (Eat Chat Parent has collaborated with several national speakers
this year). Please know that one need not be on the panel to be participate in answering questions
for the audience. Audience members sometimes offer the best advice.
I have been facilitating Eat Chat Parent for the past 3 years. Under my leadership, the event
audience has grown 150%. We have expanded our reach, narrowed our topic to focus soley on
mental health and are helping local families and youth bit by bit. Vail Health joined in 2018 as
presenting sponsor, along with other sponsors: Vail Valley Cares, Colorado Office of Behavioral
Health, Towns of Vail, Avon, Gypsum and Eagle, SAMSHA, Wells Fargo. In 2019 we saw Total Health
Alliance, Slifer Smith and Frampton Foundation and Epic Promise join. Eat Chat Parent just keeps
growing!!! We offer a healthy delicious dinner by Vail Resorts Epic Promise, certified childcare
providers, experienced live interpreters. We also provide a folder full of resources. We collect
anonymous evaluations to inform us if particpants enjoyed the presentation, if they will adopt any
behavioral changes associated with the topic presented, what additional topics to offer in the
future, and general demographic questions. A detailed analysis is provided upon request after each
event, as well as a year-long summary. All participants, if agreed upon, are added to our database
and are continually informed about our events and receive educational information year-round.
After the movie is over, we will offer an expert panel discussion. This is when anyone from the
audience (adults, parents, anyone who works with youth, youth 5th grade and up) can ask a
question, or make a comment. We try to have a youth on the panel. It is during this portion of the
Eat Chat Parent events that amazing connections are made, resources are offered and people know
they are not alone. Conversations and problem solving continue after Eat Chat Parent events,
whether it’s on a car ride, at the dinner table, via email, or face to face.
